Judging from the trailer it is the exact same game with updated graphics.

turn based JRPG's in the 90's were great.

Day 1 buy without question. I appreciate the old school approach of not announcing a game until it's practically finished development which this clearly is.

Super Mario RPG is one of the best RPGs of its era. Definitely picking this up.

Arguably one of the greatest games of all time.

It is a gem.

I was so disappointed as a kid when Paper Mario came out as the successor.

It just felt so dumbed down. And then I bought the newest paper mario when it came out a year or so ago and felt even dumber.

Those games can still be fun, but they aren't the same thing.

Now just need an Earthbound remaster like this one and I'd be in heaven

RIGHT!

When i realized it was a full 3d remake, i was thinking this will be fun in 2025. But November will be awesome.

I’ll probably buy a Switch this fall just to play this - any other can’t miss Switch games I need to check out?

I'm fairly certain it was the first RPG I ever played. The graphics pushed the Super Nintendo to its absolute limits. I loved every minute of that game.

I’ve had very little interest in the Switch, as it just looks underpowered for the price, when framed as a “modern console”.

But if Nintendo started investing resources into properly remastering and re-releasing classic games at reasonable prices, I would absolutely pick one up as a “modern retro” console.

Yeah youre gonna be waiting a long time on a "reasonable price" nintendo is notorious for not doing sells or lowering game prices. Ever. Most likely because they dont have to. They dont compete with sony or xbox directly or compete with anyone really. Generally speaking nintendo is the only one offering something that is in their niche wheelhouse.

Oh I'm aware, and that's why I added it as a condition. I'll be curious what paths Nintendo has to walk in a couple of decades when childhood nostalgia for their early IP isn't quite as strong anymore.

You think they are printing money just off nostalgia? I’m not real Nintendo fan outside of Zelda they’re just not my type of games and the switch while impressive being able to handle things like Witcher 3 is so obviously a relic if I play tears of kingdom after my ps5.

All that said adults play these games and it’s not just shite like Pokémon which I’m guessing you’d put in nostalgia. Stuff like animal crossing super smash etc have seriously dedicated audiences. They have a very certain style and it’s one Sony and Xbox have largely chosen to forgo in favor of bigger unreal 5 type games. Turns out a frick ton of people like nintendos style

Instant buy. I had to rent this game for like two weeks in a row from the video rental store in my town because I just had to beat it. I don't really remember much about the game except loving it at the time (and this was after playing FFIII and Chrono Trigger, so my standards were sky high), so going into it with being able to be surprised is exciting.

This is incredible news. Borrowed a friend's switch a while back and loved the emulators. Was disappointed this wasn't on there but this is even better.
