I couldn't care less about PewDiePie, but I do care about journalistic ethics, standards, and truth.
After watching h3h3's video on this, which shows the inception of this incident with the WSJ article, it all appears to have been taken grossly out of context - which shouldn't be surprising given the comportment of the media for the past year or so.

They aren't traditional celebrities and don't really have to act the same way. Although now that Youtube has started demonetizing videos with "hate speech" I guess they will have to be more careful now. I saw today he made $15Million alone in 2015, and I'm assuming much more in 2016 based off the continued YouTube success and the show, etc. The dude could quit right now and easily be happy.

the message was bad, but he did it not thinking they'd actually respond. Go watch the full video, he posts funny messages to a bunch of those people trying to get them to do random stuff. You could see the shock and embarrassment in his face when he saw it. He's not a racist, but he did that at the wrong time. Everyone gets offended over ever little thing or joke nowadays.
