Just got done reading more articles on it. This Zoe Quinn person sounds like a massive attention whore. This whole controversy is just feeding her. I wish I didn't know about it anymore.

I'm not so sure anymore. Watch the game ads carefully and you'll see they want you to buy the game before its released. It doesn't take much effort to hire some starving games 'journalists' to get good PR.
In fact, a quick google search shows TONS of PR firms for video games. I'm almost certain that these firms are dropping packets to run for these 'journalists' to publish so they can create a positive view of their game and sell it to people before the truth comes out.
It kinda sounds like Destiny recently, hugely positive presence and after release the reviews are middling, mediocre.

They talked about destiny pre release because people were interested and clicked on the articles. If they really had them payed off, it would have had better scores

People who buy games based off "gaming journalists" deserve what they get...
Destiny had a lot of "meh" reviews throughout beta though, so people should have known what they were getting...

50% seems a bit much. I just don't see it but I also don't follow all that hype bullshite that others do. I don't care about review scores and all that crap.

It is rampant. The 'journalists' and indie devs are all in bed together. They found a journo-list type group that proves it. They're all pushing agendas.
People were scratching their heads over ZQ before the boyfriend stuff came out. She made a 'game' on Twine and somehow it was getting all sorts of hype and even got on Steam.
Like others have said, her and Anita Sarkeesian are soaking this crap up. They love the attention. If you question them, you're (insert flavor of the month)-ism.

I did stop following the story but I remember when it broke the "proof" was very thin. Either way I just don't care about most of those individuals involved. I was never going to play depression quest to begin with.
