No word on what it is or what is ahead but sources say it is being pushed out of September. I applaud them for taking time to get things right but their leadership clearly has some issues.

It's one of those things where I'm glad they aren't doing like year 1 and going out there too early while promising too much, but they seem to be in over their heads. They have to get Destiny 2 right though. If they come out and aren't ready for the long haul with content then people will eventually stop coming back.

Glad. F Bungie though, their latest update is a joke.

I mean I knew everything they admitted to already but just hearing them admit they are liars makes it more real.

The problem that faced Destiny the first time was so multifaceted.

-No story, or rather no clear story. You had to read the online cards to get most of the background

-Repetitive

-PvP online was pretty lackluster

From what I hear some of that was fixed with the Taken King, but by that time many had moved on (Myself included) and were not going to waste money to see if it got fixed when there were so many other things in the Queue

If they come out with 2 and have the same problems they they will really going to the confidence of the gamers

Sweet that gives everyone a little more time to max out their armor and gear just so they can do it all over again in September.

I really hope they're not making resetting everyone's progress a yearly thing. That is going to get tiresome really quickly. And honestly it's the main reason I don't play the TK nearly as much as I thought I would. I was having to rebuild all my characters again which was just too time consuming.

Skill based matchmaking I'm assuming.

Regardless, they had no business telling us that. If they did, people just would have abused it and lost a ton of games on purpose to get stacked against easier opponents. I had no problem with that.

-Repetitive

What FPS is not repetitive?

BF and COD are the very definition of repetitive, but they keep getting all kinds of love.

It is about PVP matchmaking and how it changed after Taken King. I will try to explain it as best I can. From the start of how matchmaking works in Destiny.

When the game first came out they had a skill based matchmaking system. Skill based but also location based to keep connections and lag decent.

There are plenty of reasons this is a good thing for a developer and the gamer. It makes the games more competitive for good players for one. It makes it easier and more enjoyable for casual players/bad players, which is the main reason for it, so that the casuals do not stop playing.

But there are negatives. Good players are always playing in really good lobbies, which makes playing casually almost out of the question as you have to use the meta and go try hard to get a kill. You also have the problem of friends not wanting to play with each other because of the skill bump that may happen. For example we know a guy that will not pvp with us because our lobbies are so tough. (no names, lol) But the main problem is because they are putting you into a certain tier of player they have to reach farther out to matchmake you with somebody, because the player pool is smaller. The farther location causes worse connections.

Now for some reason Bungie felt like they needed to change matchmaking. To make it even tighter, so that you get grouped even more with people of your skill. They did this when Taken King dropped, and they did it secretly. Not sure why they did this but maybe it was because they expected a lot of new players to join and wanted to make sure the skill gap was tighter.

The problem is it made PVP shite, it broke it. Now the pool of players you match with got even tighter so the connections got even farther out. People were matching with me from all over now, when before it was mainly the South. Or Northeast if Beef was host. (if you wonder how I know this, it was pretty easy to tell by username and clan names)

Everyone started complaining about lag, and how matchmaking was too competitive now.

Bungie came out on twitter and said some statement about how matchmaking had not changed and is working as intended. They said a reason for people getting grouped farther out could be because of SRL being playable and it was pulling PVP players away. Nobody believed this bullshite and then when SRL stopped nothing changed. It was still laggy.

So that was what we were left with.
Then the update came yesterday, and they addressed how they have always had skill based matchmaking(they never admitted this before, people just knew), that they changed it when Taken King dropped (Slowly by game type, control was first).

In doing this they admitted to lying about matchmaking not changing. It is just another lie. They continue to lie about every mistake they make. As if their customers are not smart enough to see it.

This. The regular content release is necessary for this type of game but obviously unsustainable by Bungie. A full year without content is not going to be good

I know they never wanted Destiny to be a PVP centered game but it is really all I enjoy about it now and I hate that it got worse.

Wish they could of had dedicated servers. Also a ranked and casual type playlist. It would have helped some of these issues.

But mainly just stop lying about it. This has happened over and over.

Is Destiny 2 going to be new characters or will you carry over old ones?

If it is totally new I'll give it a shot, but I quit a week before Taken King came out and haven't missed the hamster wheel. Don't have any interest in having to max out my D1 toon to get into D2

Didn't follow all that since PvP is very casual for me. Did you read the article I linked here? There was something in the bottom half of the story I found interesting about the communication. It sounds like it is so bad within bungie (more leadership issues) that often times when you think they lied, they just didn't know what the other hand was doing. They don't have a consistent message and it creates lies that are mostly terrible communication. Not saying that means there are no lies ever but I have seen that at work before where people come across as liars but it turns out their department just doesn't communicate. It happens to me sometimes too and it pisses me off like you wouldn't believe.

I didn't read it. But I don't doubt that is some of the problem. They even admitted to it after the lies about the weapon update working as "intended"

It really is amazing Destiny is as good as it is considering the disorganized mess Bungie appears to be.
