Question for those into PC gaming

Would a desktop be better or could I use a laptop? I want to play games like PUBG and Rocket League along with some others but didn't know if I could get by with either one. Does anyone here use a laptop and how do you like it?

If you are willing to pay a whole bunch extra for a laptop that you wont really be able to upgrade later to keep up, you can play just about any game at a decent frame rate with decent graphics on a lap top.
I would not recommend it unless you don't mind the extra money and the lop top benefits outweigh the desktop's advantages in your life.

Also consider thermals and acoustics. It will sound like a swarm of bees for even some of the higher end laptops.

The only way a laptop is better is if you plan to be playing games outside of your home a lot, ie work travel.
I bought a gaming laptop to use while at lsu. After graduating I use my desktop 95% and laptop 5%. And that's only because I have my Microsoft office licenses on the laptop.

Even then a laptops not that great. I built this gaming PC that will all fit inside a booksack (monitor, case, keyboard, mouse and headset), but it packs some incredible power.

I've been doing a lot of research on this lately because I'm about to switch from console to PC gaming. I set my budget at $2500 and I was all set to just get a laptop but after playing around with the parts picker website I discovered that I can get a hell of a lot more bang for my money with a desktop. Laptop you're sacrificing power for convenience.

Its not much of a convenience unless you are always on the road and to game in hotels.
Besides that, its more trouble than its worth for double the cost and a lot more noise.

I had a gaming laptop in college. It was pretty awesome aside from the native resolution being 1920x1200. Most games that would actually take advantage of the hardware ran like crap because of the super high screen resolution.
Also, I don't know if this is still the case, but back in the day, HDs on a laptop were really slow. It would take ages to install a game off a disk, but this is before Steam.

I am probably one of the few on here that primarily play on a laptop and as everyone else has already said the only reason why I do is because I am overseas and traveling constantly.
I love my laptop (Razer Blade Pro), but I would definitely prefer to be on a desktop if I had the chance. I am headed home on R&R on Monday, the 7th, and am thinking of building a SFF PC while I am home and getting a Pelican case for shipping to where I am usually stationed and jsut use the laptop while I am on travel.
