Older guy here needing advice for my son. I am looking into purchasing him a gaming system for his birthday. He is seven years old. Would Playstation or Xbox be better for him? what are the pros and cons of each. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I am assuming he will play mostly sports games for now. TIA.

For sports games it doesn't really matter. Unless he is a huge MLB fan than PS4.

Either would be fine, especially if he likes just sports games.

For a younger person who isn't worried about having their system hooked up the cable I'd go PS4. It's cheaper and you get all of the sports games including MLB the Show. Thus far the PS exclusive games have been better also for whenever he gets old enough to care about that.
I have both so that's my opinion.

Are you going to let him play online? I mean, not with strangers, but online with his friends?
If you are, then get whatever most of his friends have. If not, then I don't think it matters too much.

Ooop! I thought the Xbox was $400 with a kinect? I got my PS4 for $400 back in March. I don't really see the point of even having an xbox if you don't use the Kinect with the cable wired in.
Regardless, disregard what i said! Since I Have them both I'm not keeping up with prices lol.

WiiU. No question. It's my favorite by far and every little kid should own a Nintendo.

He has an original Nintendo. Got it for Christmas last year. Had to start him off right!

Get him a Wii U then. Updated games but with a lot of the same characters.

Wii U then PS4, both of them have more offerings for kids with the Wii U having the most.
