Pretty sure Legion was the smoothest expansion launch in the history of gaming

Some idiots had to frick it up last night with a DDoS attack but thats not blizzards fault. It took them 6 expansions to get it right but I think they figured it out this time.

Early access for the new class so the starter areas for them werent over taxed. Scaling zones so literally every zone was a starter area keeping one particular one from being over taxed. The biggest thing though was I think they must have allocated an absolute frick ton of server real estate to dalaran and split it well.

I would think that they didn't need a big infrastructure upgrade give that they are not even close to the numbers there were at in their prime.

I was really impressed with it. Beyond the things you mentioned there weren't many bugs with quests and mobs. The only thing that happened to me was a silver elite that refused to die.

A friend had to do their artifact quest chain twice.

every expansion they've put out has had massive issues, during their prime or not. this latest expanion appears to be an exception and it's mostly due to how blizzard handled it, not due to decreased numbers.

has blizzard released what their numbers were before and after legion release?

After a month the numbers will fall below the before numbers

That is what has happened in the past. Spike surrounding release, due to massive advertising/marketing campaign. . .and curiosity. Curiosity passes, and the realization that it is just a bit of polish and a couple new bells and whistles. People stop logging in. Marketing of next expansion starts.

Rinse/repeat.

I mainly play every expansion to get the story then eventually fall off. This has always been my favorite lore setting. Azeroth first with Toril (forgotten realms) close behind.

Numbers won't mean anything until a year from now. Subs fell off HARD during WoD despite a really strong launch. The question is whether Legion can sustain the spike and MWOWGA.

WoD

Considered by many to be WoWs worst expansion

Lots of people are hoping legion redeems blizzard, and by all accounts it is so far

Sice cataclysm, numbers have been steadily declining. The only reason the decline after WoD looks so sharp, is because of the large numbers of former players that came back for a short time.

The decline has been steady and persistent.

More DDOS attacks tonight. I'm on Kel'Thuzad.. pretty much unplayable atm. I remember when WOD launched there were ridiculous que times for days. I haven't sat in que once since Tuesday.

Finished Stormheim last night and Aszuna today. Both zones were interesting and really well done.

So? They still have a metric shite ton of players.

They are pulling in millions several million dollars per month from WOW.

Cataclysm was the last good expansion and even that one started the game's downfall. I'm not a fan of the game's current dev team.

I played a few weeks of cataclysm, mostly enjoyed checking out all the changes to the world. But it didn't draw me in like lich king did. Quit before trying any of the raids, really just got burned out on the end game grind bullshite.

Tried playing lastnight and honestly can't tell you the amount of times I was kicked out of the game. Hopefully it improves in the near future, cause paying $50 for that bullshite ain't cutting it.
