And about 15 virtual console games including Donkey Kong, Zelda OoT, Super Mario, etc...
If Nintendo puts out a console that can both be powerful enough to get third party support and they release their platformers with updated graphics and game play it would easily be the GOAT.
That said, the wiiu is an awesome console for Nintendo fans.

My game list is pretty pathetic and reflects my disappointment in the system. I would be thrilled to get a recommendation.

Y'all really need to get Freedom Planet. It's the spiritual successor to Sonic and a tribute to Genesis games in the same way Shovel Knight is to the NES. Just go with Classic and stay away from the story mode. Great game, has fantastic boss battles, and may be harder than Tropical Freeze.

Have it from Steam. The game plays awesome but my SNES game pad isn't working with W10 anymore and stuck playing on a XBONE or PS4 controller, but doesn't feel right.

The stages aren't as hard, but the bosses are insane. Almost all of them are difficult and will take you a few tries to figure out their pattern. Only the last 3 stages are actually insanely difficult, but the bosses throughout are very difficult.
