970 price is amazing. 980 price is very good. Instead of 4K I may join team green. Problem is, I want the 980, but two of them, and also with water blocks.

4k is a long way off for me, I'm not willing to fork up the money for 1440 yet

So my PSU cord just ignited. Full blown electrical fire. WTF caused that shite?!?!?

I was playing Borderlands 2 at the time.

Well, that's a channel well unit, so its quality can be iffy. Doesn't seem like a bad unit though. The problem might be from the other end of the cord (house wiring)

I could have overloaded it. I plugged everything else back in and nothing is hot.

Everything but the PC

Anyone actually getting the new 980?

You just asked ppl in this thread if ANYONE is buying the 980.

Brother, already on top of that. I'm hearing 1400Mhz is a common reachable OC for the little Maxwell GM204-400.

After experiencing this RoG Swift @ 1440/120-144/G-Sync; IDC about 4K until a 4K display with G-Sync @ at less 60Hz is released.

Yeah, I think I'm going to buy at least one and put a block on it, and sell my 290s with the blocks.

And if I do that, my next goal will be to afford the rog swift.. if it ever exists again.

I want a second, before I like both my utility and main monitor to be exactly the same model, etc.

Now I know the 980 is getting great reviews in benches because stock the thing is like at 1201 or something, now, I run my 780 Tis in most games at 1281 most of the time. Saying this, the big GK110-425 has an extremely low stock clock compared to the 980, so with 800 less CUDA cores I want to see what this thing can truly do with just a 256 bus.

Yeah I did notice the lower overall mem bandwidth. I saw only a few numbers, and I don't remember if anything was benched at 4K.

I would too, yet it has never worked out that way. I always upgrade one monitor and demote the old one to secondary, and the old secondary gets demoted to spare/sell status.

Just ordered an EVGA 980 reference, will run some tests with this smaller bus and -800 CUDA cores before going all in with SLi.

None the less, this card will no doubt make it in one instal

Just looked at the pricing on the 980s. What made Nvidia offer these so cheap? The price of the higher end AMD cards?

They are easier to make.

Still at 28nm with a lower transiter count. This is like GK104 (Little Kepler) to GK110 (Big Kepler).

Edt: GTX 680 vs GTX Titan/780Ti.

I haven't seen a lot of complete reviews but there were some 4k benchmarks that had it scaling better than anything else. I think it was only a couple of frames ahead of the 780ti though. I haven't seen anything about heat? are they cooler?

It's going to be inherently cool with a lower TDP, 28nm lithography with fewer transistors.
