my next upgrade -- probably haswell.

somewhat tangential to the original discussion, but I was pretty unimpressed with Haswell's benchmarks when TH ran their battery of tets

I'd start with just one and see how that goes. Consolers may try to bomb it. If you get the all encompassing PC thread talk stickied and running, maybe a showoff thread down the line.

I've got a topic i would like to discuss. Windows PowerShell. we got any guru's up in here?
i think I might just have to go find me a training class and a certification on powershell. seems awesome and something marketable in the future.

Ive used it a bit, specifically in server 08. that in no way qualifies me as a "guru" though
I don't know if they have any PS certs but it is a valuable scripting tool.

ASUS's big blue heatsinks are a dead giveaway.

yeh, specifically on 08 servers.
i'm not sure we even use it on 03 servers, i've heard it can be installed, but for now we have it on 08 servers and 12 servers in the near future.

just seems like this is the way microsoft servers will be admin'ed in the future with the path they are laying down using cmdlets in powershell.

Those are starting to get old.

Stout will take your advice. I didn't know what to list it as but I know a lot of us here like to show off our hard work to others and take suggestions. Some ppl aren't just gamers but enjoy moding and what not.

I did a little powershell when I started learning python but that wasn't much and I didn't really keep up with it. None of that information should help you.

I think we just need to get this a sticky and put rules at the top. Screw it, lets request our own board. That would be

Oh no doubt.

The GF's rig has a 650Ti, thing is awesome and OCs well. I'm tempted in buying 2 650Ti boost to SLi put not for the 300 price point.

Maybe yall feel different than me since I just did a build and got help but that can be a bit annoying to me too. I don't mind helping but it is a bit aggravating if someone wants you to pick everything for them while not doing any research or anything on their own. I wanted second opinions to validate a lot of my research since I was and still am inexperienced. That's my rant, maybe everyone said that about me too though.

Not totally what I meant and sure puff also. Sometimes discussions get derailed by them.

I'm all for helping someone out who is just starting and love doing so. The best part about building PCs is helping and learning from each of our experiences.

I'm all about reading server, networking and coding talk.

I have been learning SQL for a web based app as a Construction Management tool. Only real coding I know is VBA since I only run databases for construction projects in project controls.

I have a home server but looking into purchasing a static IP to run a SQL BE to connect with my Access FE on client PCs.

that's about half the reasoning behind my build. yes, i would like to do a little gaming, since my COD clan is, well, still stuck on COD.

But also because I do a lot of work research at home with virtual servers on virtual machines. Server 08, Server 12, PowerShell, HyperV, VMare, is where my money is made. So having a dev environment at my fingertips at home is kinda nice. means not having to get upper level management approval for a meaningless God ID on a sandbox server in a ice cold lab.
