That's interesting. It doesn't affect my 770 at all but interesting

The 390X may very well be a dual-GPU card (2 280X's in crossfire). It would be a much cleaner naming convention than "295x2."

Also possible. All depends on how well the 380X is for 4K, if it's the top end solo card I would assume very well.

What's your current PSU? If I recall correctly, it needed a dual molex/PCIe adapter. Upgrading that PSU will be another added expense (though a drop in the bucket compared to the >$1000 for the 380X/4k Freesync combo.)

Yeah PSU is no biggie, will be getting a new case too.
End of the year/when they release will be Skylake upgrade.

Cool, so here is some PC enthusiast/addict logic: Since you'll be spending $1600+ on this upgrade, you could add a second 380X and get a 90% gaming performance boost for only 33% more. At that point, you must be the crafty consumer and take advantage of such a bargain.

That's practically stealing!

I guess I should go DDR4 later this year when I go new mobo and Skylake cpu huh? Looks like DDR4 prices have already came down quite a bit, should be good enough later this year to buy in.

Well, if you're going Skylake, it may not be up to you depending on whether you go low, mid or high-end. Last I read Skylake would have DDR3 and DDR4 controllers, but it's not clear whether all chips will support both, or if they will be model-specific (e.g., i7s support DDR4, i3s support DDR3, i5s have a mix of both, etc). Or maybe the higher-end chips will have dual IMCs, and the lower end may only support one or the other. That will certainly make motherboard-buying more confusing for novices.
EDIT: Hmm, maybe they'll all be dual IMC
Yay, more stuff on a smaller die.

I would prefer to go DDR4. Be in late 2015 and it should be far more mainstream by then across the board.

I'd do the same, assuming we see more affordable and faster kits in a year. Clearly Skylake is the transitional period to get more people off of DDR3, and AMD is supporting DDR4 next year too, so it's gonna happen. DDR4 right now is still slower than DDR3 in general, but probably not noticeably so in real-world use. It will have matured some by the end of the year. The 4GB module density hinders most of the timings, but speeds will eventually scale to ridiculous frequencies. Right now the fastest kit you can buy is 3000MHz CL14, so consider a kit that will give you ~9.5ms access time or lower. That's roughly the equivalent of DDR3 2133 CL10.

Thanks. I just want to use it on my old 1TB drive that already had 100 games and my saves on it. My HTPC case is maxed out with an SSD and one HDD and I don't have a desktop right now.

I bought a 3TB for my new system, I got tired of having to choose between steam games on my 1TB. I need to get windows installed on the old 1TB though and get it in my system I got back from my nephew, it has all my passwords saved in an excel sheet on there.
