here's a good video of these guys with tons of hours played reviewing each character. think of it as a podcast rather than a instructional or gameplay video. It's an hour and 40 minutes long, but it's worth a listen if you are new and trying to wrap your head around all these characters.

LINK

lol. at the 24-25 minute mark they talk about how all the noobs run onto social media and talk about how OP Bastion is, without realizing how easily countered he is with experience.

Played a few matches just now. I really don't feel like this game is worth $60. I would rather just play HotS.

For PC purposes it's $40, but it didn't sound like that would change your mind

I might pick it up, but it'd only be because I have friends who are interested.

Seems kinda dumb that dude with the shield can just stand there while allies can shoot through it

ETA: The mystery hero mode is pretty cool. New character every time you die.

Games is fun as hell, but I can't see it being a long term game and certainly not worth the 40 dollars....on the fence for sure.

I realize it's your opinion, and you not be one of those guys, but I don't get people who look at Overwatch and say it is repetitive and not a long term game then go back to their Battlefield/COD match.

No I get that totally. I hated COD and Battlefront. Battlefield I felt like there was at least some progression in the game, but even that one you just ran out of steam eventually.

It feels a lot like TF2 (and I loved that game too) but that got stale eventually.

Oh they all get stale for me eventually. However, if I get 10 hours out of Overwatch I already have got more value out of it than going to a movie.

True.

I will probably pick it up for my PC when it launches.

Yeah, I can see that.

The thing that pushed me over the edge is when Blizzard announced that all DLC, heroes and maps, will be free.

I can't link because I'm at work, but there are multiple sources out there stating this.

Here's one source. certainly nice to know you won't be shelling out cash for a ton of content later.

That's actually pretty huge.

I enjoyed the hell out of TF2, and this is similar with a ton of upside and improvements.

I like the layout, the intro, and the entire concept.

Branched out last night into some different characters. Can't remember names yet, but she was the hero that can shield allies and herself and has the gravity field ultimate that can pull enemies into it.

Zarya. Strong pink haired Russian woman. She's pretty fun. Interesting mechanics too with her damage increasing the more her shields are hit.

I had a badass game with D.Va last night where I went 25/2 and got PotG with a triple kill using her self-destruct ult. Launched in off a ledge and ejected on top while my mech flew down to blow up the enemy team.

Tried to play this for a little on console and it just wasn't clicking for me, wasn't getting the teamwork aspect like I do in TF2. Maybe I need to play it on PC but I just don't see the hype with this game other than Blizzard.

it's difficult to find the team aspect in the BETA right now. A lot of randoms running whatever class they think is the coolest or most interesting. No one running what their team needs for balance. So when you go up against actual teams it can turn into a shite show quickly. Matchmaking isn't based on experience right now either, just lumps whoever at whatever level into a game. played with a friend last night and still saw the same thing. when paired with knowledgeable team players we could make a stand and hold objectives. then we'd be thrown into a lobby where 4 noobs were all running assault players or snipers, to get wrecked.

no one seems to want to run tank or support. ever. ever. ever. so last night i ran a ton of RoadHog. He's my favorite tank. When I've got some support or someone with a turret near by i can lock down small areas with the hook/ shotgun blast combo. then i save my ultimate for when we are getting over run. It's crazy watching rounds where we are on Defense and randoms won't pick a single defensive player or turret builder. Straight up everyone running Widowmaker, McCree, Reaper, Soldier 76, Ginji, and/or Hanzo while we are getting our shite shoved in. Then they'll back out midway thru the match.

also played some reaper in some objective games where the opposing team was getting close to the final objective and the map was narrowed to smaller areas. got a 6 kill streak in about 20 seconds. 2 kills from behind. then hit the death spin cycle to clear out an area and give us the win. yet, the biotch running D-VA got the play of the game because she was just spamming her machine guns in that area stealing 3 kills from me. pissed me off. thought i had that "Da-Na-Na...Da-Na-Na" Sportscenter Top 10 moment and that B stole it by just spamming.

still having a lot of fun trying different characters and am hoping to find a full squad to play with eventually.

IGN: dcrews

I'm down to play with anyone from TD.

Willing to play supportive heroes, although I'm still very new to the game.

So far Roadhog is my favorite to play with. I played with the skater kid support player and he was pretty good for area heals. I have had a little luck using the guy with the traps and c4, his primary weapon is just tough to use.

I like him.

Great for defense, especially on maps where teams have to pass through a bottleneck to get somewhere.

He also shits on Bastion so keep that in mind. Just lob some grenades over a wall onto bastion.
