I go blunt 1h + shield + resto magic + heavy armor

enchanting, smithing with that.

I was an unkillable god by about level 35 I think.

There is a mace that steals souls for enchanting and I just bought the potions I needed for the smithing enhance and then enchant it to hell.

Probably buying it on my way home from work. Time to jump back in

I've forced myself to not sneak around this time. I downloaded Ordinator so the skill trees are much more diverse. So far I've gone heavy two handed with some skill in illusion and resto magic. It's been pretty fun so far. I've gotten dicked by a couple of wild dragons though since my archery ain't up to snuff. Oh well, I'm having a lot of fun not one shotting everything before they even see me this time around

I am. The selection isn't great. My favorite so far has been the lamp posts of Skyrim

Really adds to the immersiveness of the game.

If you're for visual immersion, then try the Oblivion landscape Mod. Absolutely insane.

I was MSGA during lunch.

Sticking with my archer/sneak badass.

I still get the shite kicked out of me pretty easily. Kept getting rocked by some witches who I can't seem to keep track of on one mission.

That is what I am leaning towards, but I just played "that guy" in Fallout 4. Different game sure, but the same basic ideas prevail in both.

Last time I played Skyrim in 2011, I played a Shield+Mace+HEavy Armor+ resto magic hulking badass of lawful good.

Thinking the assassin with illusion magic and potions might be fun this time.

Enjoying the hell out of replaying this game, but I forgot how clunky the combat is and switching weapons. Doesn't hold a candle to Shadow of Mordor in that regard.

Bethesda can create the best open worlds and the worst combat

I will say playing Skyrim again made me miss ESO's combat system

I am in love with this game all over again. Haven't played another game since it released.

5 years later I am in the same boat after 1 night.

Doing run as:

Stealth
Archery
Daggers
Illusion magic
Light Armor

I always play tank types in these games so I am doing something new. Got to lvl 5 last night in my first session. Dumping everything I can into stealth and archery first.

That about fits my gameplay.

The only other route I ever go is magic, glass cannon.

I had to force myself not to bum rush every enemy I saw last night and it hurt my soul to sell all the heavy armor.

Forcing myself to go against every fantasy RPG habit I have developed over the years is tough, but fun. I play a tank in every fantasy RPG. Something about being an unkillable mountain of badassness just feels right.

In fact I almost feel like re-rolling tonight and going back to old faithful 1h+shield

Mods

I've already seen mods for making combat better, and giving the AI better fighting skills.

Nothing is worse than fighting a Giant at low level, and he's stuck on a 2 foot high rock, and it lets you then pick him apart with arrows. He could step higher than the rock he's stuck on.

But they have mods to fix AI. best ones not out yet, but some good ones already out there

To each their own. I've never been the warrior/indestructible wall type of character on these games. I tried to start that way and I couldn't do it.

I like the stealth, unseen, untouchable characters.

That applies to movies and shows too. Always favor the assassins.

Not sure what that says about me psychologically.

I've been playing as a full mage (altmer), focusing on Conjuration, Alteration, Illusion, and Restoration (have not even touched destruction). It's pretty OP.

I'm just hoping for a console mod that lets you hot key multiple spells.
