The reason we (or at least I) do this, is so that when new players on TD or friends IRL start LoL for the first time, it allows us to play with them without drawing higher level players into the game.
Not sure how it works in Dota, but if we played with you on our main accts, you'd be playing against people who have been playing for a while, most likely making it frustrating and difficult for a newer player to learn.
Currently watching the LCS, but I'll be on all night tonight. Hit some of us up and we can play with you.
I think a bunch of us use skype, vent, TS, etc... when we get on, so let us know and we can invite you to those as well.

On your journey to level 30, play them all. Get a feel for all 5 roles and then start practicing the ones you like the most.
I'd recommend not doing jungle until last however.
Going with top or bottom helps as a new player since you are on the edge of the map and can only be ganked (flanked) from one side.
It's gonna take some time to get a feel for what champions you're most comfortable with, but hang in there.
Most important thing you need to learn first: Last Hitting. Depending on how familiar you are with Moba's, we can explain that to you.
