It took me a while to realize that I need to start small and green energy is cheap. I was building a ton of roads/pipes/ and expensive energy and going broke quick.

The building style is very european, which makes sense given that Paradox is from Sweden.

That explains why the art style reminds me of IKEA so much.

Or you are just missing something.

I feel like this game has so many layers.

Oh I am sure I am missing something, just haven't figured out what. My city has kind of stalled at 24K people. So clearly I need to do something to get things moving again.

Do you start as a small little town and build from the ground up into a metropolis?

Or is it just the same level of advanced city and you expand outwards?

You start with literally nothing but a highway connection and a small budget.

ETA: or 2 highway connections, depending on the zone you pick.

Has anyone found any cool starting maps in the Steam Workshop yet?

Haven't ventured that far yet, I feel like I still have a lot to discover about the out of the box game. I've only scrolled through the mods they have in the little side panel of the start menu.

This. The other thing is not every upgrade is available to you at first...so no building solar power plants until you city has reached a certain level.

It's only 30 bucks.

More then worth it.

Unlike that 60 dollar disaster that EA put out.

Dead people piling up.

I found a solution I think

1) Make sure your roads aren't totally congested. That will screw all kinds of things up.

2) Buy several crematoriums and put them by some cemeteries then dump the dead from the cemeteries into the crematoriums. That will free up space for more dead people.

3) Fire. Make sure you have enough fire stations and put fire alarms in everyone's house. It's crazy expensive to do though. I did it and it put me in the hole so any fires my fire department doesn't get to, I just destroy the rubble.

The traffic thing makes complete sense for the dead. I have some issues coming off my highways with traffic.

Thanks for the tips.

Didn't even know this game existed until 2 days ago. Saw the pretty darn good sale on GMG and had to pick it up. Kinda pumped up to get into a city building game, haven't played one since SC4

Played for about 2.5 hours tonight and I love it. Got my city up to about 12k people and it's running pretty smoothly. The district feature is pretty awesome with everything you can customize within each district.

I'm excited.
