I stuck on the verge of 60k people right now. I am not sure how my city just went out of control. After about 25k people my city started doing amazing was raking in $30k and climbing fast all the way up to 46k people, then it just stopped and only slid to $10k per week.

I still have about 10 million in the bank and definitely still making money though, but I don't like the quick slide from 30k a week to 10k a week.

Think I am going to make a new city and not make interstate exits that my old city can access to see if I can start building a new population like I did the old city on the same map.

Are the stupid special buildings bugged or some shite? My crime rate is 4% and everything is blue, I also have police headquarters on both sides and across the street from my science center, but the damn thing keeps flashing high crime. The stadium did that shite for awhile too and finally quit... Pretty freakin annoying when you have that much police around it.

Traffic kills everything it seems. My first city was doing great until it hit 30k people. Once it hit 30k shite started going crazy. People started getting sick even though they had plenty of electricity, the water was clean and their garbage was always picked up. The problem was noise pollution. There was so much congested traffic in my city that it caused a lot of noise which caused people to get sick and die. I lost about half of my population and nearly went bankrupt.

Ive had no problems running SC4 in windows 7, fyi.

I've tried everything imaginable. I've googled countless problems and fixes, and they all end up being temporary for me. I think the problem may be some sort of incompatible hardware, because I've done everything possible with software changes, just short of reverting the boot OS to WinXP. And my computer is more than capable of running newer stuff. The best fix I found was setting the CPU Count to 1 for SC4 (I have a quad core i5), and restarting the game every so often. It's odd.

I've hit a plateau for growth in my first city now at 40k.

No major issues; garbage, sewage, power, water, deaths, etc. all managed very well. But commercial/industrial demand has outpaced residential demand by quite a bit and I can't seem to fill all the jobs being created.

Such is life in Tiguar's libertarian paradise.

SC4 cam have some issues with newer video cards. It actually renders better with old hardware.

Major patch for C:S is out, fixes some minor things but adds the ability to upgrade to one way roads! If you have a mod that did that for you, you need to disable it now.
Also nerfed the commercial effect for parks, so now your citizens will go to commerce buildings for commerce needs and not parks. parks are strictly leisure.

Traffic is everything. I'm upgrading roads before I continue to expand my city.

Nice. Commerce just didn't seem to work right. The next thing they need to look at is crime/fire.

I can have one police station to deal with crime in my moderate size towns, but I need fire stations on every corner to keep fires down.

I'd also like to either see them mod or give us a sewage treatment plant.

Dumping raw waste into a river is just not something any city does anymore. It's kind of dumb we are forced to.

well the upgraded sewage plants treat 85% of the pollution out of the water before its dumped.

I hit this at 40k as well, you really got to spread stuff out so people will want to move where the industry and commercial is at and my traffic only has a few hot spots. I just can't figure out what is driving my income down so hard. It was rising so well and then crashed.

Don't know what happened but people just started moving in again. Up to 80-something-K now.

Traffic is god awful. You can tell I had no idea what I was doing with road infrastructure in my first city

Ground pollution will run off from industry into the water if industry is too close to the rivers. Make sure you put a buffer of trees between them.

That I did not realize and that's a major issue...time to get to work on a forest.

thanks

yeah theyve done a great job with little nuances like that.
eta: also, has everyone noticed that traffic will merge into its preferred turning lane as soon as possible? each vehicle would rather sit in a long line of traffic than bypass it to merge closer to the exit.
a good fix for this, at least for highway traffic, is to use a one way 6 lane road as your ramp and merge that into an intersection. that way you get 2 lanes of traffic dedicated for each direction as traffic comes off your highway and into your city.

Trying to get a 6-lane coming from my city to the highway. How do I get it to just split the 6-lane into two seperate 3-lane, 1-way roads? I can't figure out how to do that without it turning that into an intersection....
