Wow. I wonder who takes over and how the direction of the company will change.

He was skipping events for health reasons so this isn't a total shock. It's a damn shame though.

I didn't realize how many games he worked on in his earlier years like Zelda.

Oh shite, that's a big fricking deal. Probably the biggest death yet in video gaming. Sad day for gaming. Only Miyamoto's death would be a bigger deal. RIP

Biggest death recently but his predecessor was the one that made Nintendo who they are.

Eta: Yamauchi actually died only 2 years ago.

Losing Iwata hurts but I may legit cry when Miyamoto dies. These two are responsible for Nintendo being as amazing as it is. Without Iwata and Miyamoto, there's no way Nintendo is as popular as it is today.

For sure. He is the Walt Disney of video games. Even 1,000 years from now, no one could hope to ever match his legacy. He defined really what the video game was and made sure it wasn't just a fad.

I guess someone had to do it. They always said miyamoto didn't have much technical expertise, just creativity.

As big as Billy Mitchell's ego is, even he would admit that Miyamoto is a much bigger deal than he is.

There are plenty of influential people but miyamoto is probably the biggest name.

Satoru Iwata was most famous in house for being a prodigy at H.A.L. Laboratory. Due to his resume, he was promoted and promptly began moving Nintendo into the new age of gaming.

God bless the man.

Man, it's not that surprising but this sucks. Biggest loss in gaming in a while, maybe the biggest ever for someone who hadn't retired. RIP.
