open universe, fly around to different planets, etc

Hell Bungie should buy Hello games. The programming from this small studio could have made Destiny so freakin awesome.

the cool thing I think all these space sim games will do is make people want to explore space more.

plus the old school sci fi nerds, like star trek, are who come up with a lot of the awesome tech stuff we use today. bet all these space sim games will create new generations of kids that want to find a way to make the technologies in these games a reality.

I would probably agree. That's a lower bar than Destiny was held to, to be fair.

It looks cool, but exploring procedurally generated planets would seem to get old pretty quick. It's definetly a sit and wait type of game. I'm afraid all of the hype will amount to nothing but a little visual tittilation.

If you're looking for a story driven game, I'd say no mans sky isn't for you. it's more of a do whatever you want sandbox style game where there's no defined mission. part of not having a defined mission means doing a lot of exploring. doing a lot of exploring means you don't want to see the same thing over and over. so the procedurally generated planets seem best to achieve this. the visual tittilation is just an added bonus.

no mans sky reminds me of minecraft in some ways
