I am tentatively excited.
the amount of procedurally generated content has me worried.

Dude that game looks like shite. I mean it looks pretty but have you actually watched the video you linked?
As far as No Man's Sky, the idea sounds awesome and it's something I think I want but I'm not sure it could hold my attention long enough.

It's a complete sandbox in space. I'm not sure how much I'd enjoy it, but there so many things you can do and paths to take. If you get bored of what you're doing, just start whatever the hell you want.
I do hope they lay out the path for you to go, because the openness will likely be daunting.

This worries me. I'm playing Elder Scrolls Online right now and I can't even commit to grinding or questing for an hour. I'm always getting side tracked because there is always something else to do. That is a single continent. If you give me infinite space, I'll never finish anything.

right now you can't land on planets in elite dangerous. they're supposed to implement that later.

Hawg, I have Elite on PC. I really think its a great game for those that like space sim's. I do think that there are parts that can become amazingly boring though. I had been a miner and going back and forth from an asteroid field, scanning each asteroid to find the best minerals, not being able to tell which asteroid you have already scanned, taking cargo to space station to be sold then repeating can get boring really really fast. I switched to the combat side of things which is obviously more action, but can also be tedious.
This game looks like all of those pieces except that the great looking planets all hold a totally new experience.

I can see that. Though once you can land on planets in elite dangerous it will improve a lot I'd imagine.
But as it stands, it seems no mans sky is a good bit ahead of elite.

no mans sky seems like what a lot of people expected destiny to be like.
