Would love to see college football back if not with EA then 2k should take it. A story mode with enhanced game play customization as well as what NBA 2k does for basketball with older teams. So you could play the top 25 teams from 2015 to 2018 in franchise mode since we haven't had one since 14

Really surprised no one has at least tried to pick it up.. also don't know all the legalities they would have to pass to get license

The money that company would make would be unreal.

Is this the part where we talk about how great NCAA 14 was despite how buggy it was?

In the grand scheme of things, they didn't make much money before. Might be a bump for the first of a reboot, but it'd go right back to being one of their least-selling titles.

NCAA Football '14 sold less than 2 million units across two platforms and the hype for that game was pretty high considering we knew it was going to be their last.

From a business point of view, they're better off investing elsewhere.

They would really have to do something new for me to consider getting a new football game. After playing NHL, football games just became boring.

It won't happen soon, but I do think it'll be back one day. Even last year one of the EA guys said he knows it'll be back some day

Theres just not enough money to be made. From paying former players/universities, to making of the game, there's no chance imo.

quote:

In July, the NCAA announced it would no longer have anything to do with the series. The company arranged a licensing deal with the Collegiate Licensing Company, which would've allowed it to keep using all the real school names and logos for willing universities. But then universities became unwilling, with the SEC, Big Ten, and Pac-12 also dropping support. The depictions of active players in the company's annual games tend to match their on-field counterparts down to everything but first and last names, which can be edited. The ongoing Ed O'Bannon lawsuit seeks, among other things, to ensure that players must be compensated for the use of likenesses such as those.

This is from when EA announced they would be closing up shop. Not only did the players say no, eventually whole conferences.

The ONLY hope would be for a few universities saying "yeah go ahead and use us" from each conference and making a small scale watered down version. From there, it could be used as a recruiting tool. "Hey 5* athlete, not only if you come to TCU will we guarantee a starting spot, you'll be in next year's College football game. Can't say that about UT..."

I'm just guessing but that'd be the only way I can see it happening.

And in this day and age, no one's buying that.

The franchise is dead. See you all in next week's NCAA Football thread.

Yep. I know there's people saying "well if they release just a college game extreme barebones but let the community do the rosters and teams via team builder or whatever" that's a small minority. What about the people like my father for example who would buy the game just to play with his university. He wanted all the bells and whistles at release. Didn't care about names.

That's why I troll the NCAA threads. There's just no point in them until somebody has something concrete.

Misspelled "weekly". At this point, it's a running joke on this board.
