So as a 4-3 i decided to transition to a 3-4 multiple. Year 2 of the transition I think i have what i want i just need depth.

How do i recruit for the 3-4? I know that i want a NT about 6-6'4 around 300 plus and DE around 270 plus. Linebackers and secondary are my issue and the youngest with least depth into transition. Should my LOLB and ROLB fit diffwrent criteria? Im debating on wether to have them as stand up ends up hybrid DE/OLB. I want the versatily to go 5 big upfront but also utilize a 3 man pass rush with blitz and zone mixups. Ive alao been playing ALOT more zone in the 3-4. Also my ILB is probabLY my weakest link. any help and infO woule be great!

Ive googled quite a bit of info also. Any football/ncaa gurus that can help?

Fwiw, weight doesn't really matter in that game. As long as you get a run stuffing DT, you can put him in that role.

As a whole, I ran a crazy aggressive attack version of the 34 because it doesn't work as intended in the video game universe. The computer will NOT double the NT constantly, which is how the traditional 34 works.

I have played more hours on NCAA than any other game, and I can tell you that you are putting WAY too much thought into the game.

As mentioned by others, the game doesn't care about weight so you shouldn't either. And the OL will never double your NT, so if you are in the 3-4 and don't want to be gashed by the running game (particularly traps) you will have to play an over or under and adjust your DL alignment.

The game rewards height not weight.

Focus on recruiting the players with the best attributes for their position and height.

For the 3-4 you should recruit the tallest players with the best following attributes:

DL - Block-shed, Strength, Pass Rush

LB - Tackle, Pursuit, Block-shed, acceleration

CB - Speed, Acceleration, Man Coverage

S - Speed, Acceleration, Tackle, Zone Coverage

My advice, don't run the 3-4, that playbook is shite. Run the 3-3-5 or the 4-3.

Yes. 4-2-5.

Wear Virginia had a badass defensive playbook IIRC

I've never had much luck with 3-4. I get killed on crossing routes.

I'd recommend switching between Nickel 3-3-5, Nickel, and 4-3. I noticed you have to switch up your defense otherwise the offense is going to start moving the ball if you keep using the same defense.

I would recommend next gen madden games...I think they at least are now focusing much more on weight and strength so that you can build a defense like you are wanting.

NCAA is a joke.

If you really want to be a 3-4 multiple team then have the formations 4-3 under, 3-4 predator, 3-4 solid, nickel 2-4-5, and quarter normal.

You're going to want to recruit pure athletes at OLB. Don't worry about weight or height. You need strong guys that can run and have block shed and pass rushing moves.

For NT, go for lots of strength and high tackle ratings. Don't worry about the weight of your DEs in the 3-4 alignment, you just need good strength, tackle, block shed, and acceleration. If your defense is more centered around man blitzing I'd personally recruit big CBs with high tackle, hit power, awareness, and play recognition to be your safeties. You want your defense to have high strength, acceleration, and tackle across the board so focus on those three categories. Use formation subs to get your best guys in position for each look and don't be afraid to get freaky with your personnel makeup.

I'd personally blitz on almost every down with that type of defense. Zone run blitz on first down, man blitz on second, and edge zone blitz on third down.
