Instead of bumping the 2K shooting thread, figured I'd make my own.

In the development league now. Made two opponents quit last night before the 4th quarter with the Celtics. Today, they took Jae out and put Olynic (sp) back in the lineup. I struggled looking for a guy to get me points against the Lake show down the stretch. Couldn't hit a shot and lost the game after holding a lead. I've struggled to close games with the Celtics. I'm considering moving Smart to be my starting PG.

Went back to Portland after that. Played the Warriors. My opponent relied on my slow bigs taking to long to get back to defend Draymond streaking down the court. I went 2-3 zone and to pick off his passes. He'd iso, Kinda zigzag to get free against my crappy wing defenders then dish back out or to the open guy when the help came. Won easily though. It's easy to get points with Lillard and McCollum vs. Isiah and Bradley.

ETA UPDATE 4/28:

In the top tier

4-1 in the development league. Two double digit wins as Blazers vs Warriors. The more difficult users I play, the more strengths and weaknesses I can spot in their game rather than just weaknesses. I see why these guys are where they are. The last Warriors user was good in open court and not bad defensively. Once I was able to build a decent lead though, he folded on himself with poor shot selection, trying to shoot his way back in. Why does nobody go post? Even with the Celtics when I play Evan Turner at PF, nobody tries to take advantage of that. I usually just win by pushing tempo and getting easy twos. I won't complain though. I was able to get Plumlee get looks under the basket. 12-0 with Portland. 8 of those wins were when CJ was a 73 haha.

Probably reach HoF end of next week.

Just played a very intense yet annoying game. Just the thought of losing this last one pisses me off.

Blazers vs. OKC.

This guy doesn't guard ball handler at all. I notice this and pass it to the guy he's on every single time down the court. Easy 2 pts. I'm up 9 at the half. Plumlee has 9 pts, 3 rebs, and 3 asts. Ed Davis had like 6 points. These guys are not scorers, yet I am getting easy looks. 2nd half rolls around....He goes baseline with Westy then turns the corner for a dunk every time. I start to bring help D, he dribbles around a bit until he has the smallest path avail, takes it, poster dunk. He was 10/13 shooting in the 3rd Quarter. I blocked his dunk attempt at the buzzer, otherwise it would've been 11/13.

4th Quarter, I'm still up like 4. He was crazy efficient but I was able to kinda do the same thing + hit some 3s. His defense was awful. Westbrook is back at it. I'd dribble down the court and lose the ball in the lane multiple times just to watch Westbrook dunk over 3 guys (and he'd keep the ball while driving through the lane) It felt like a screw job. 2K put out a bounty on me because I've won too much and needed to experience a loss with the Blazers. I try some newish lineups and they're working. 2 minutes to go and I'm down 3, I hit one with Brian Roberts. I sub Lillard next dead ball. With ~30 seconds left, he's up 3, I call for a P&R twice and my guys aren't setting the pick right. I almost accidently pass to his guy. I then set up another P&R with Aminu with a few seconds on the shot clock. I drive and kick out to Aminu to tie! Durant gets the ball at half court and runs to a dunk. Story of the game. Never able to get guys back fast enough. I never have this problem. Next possession I get it CJ then I pass to top of the key then to Lillard and hit a 2 to tie. 1.4 seconds left now. He inbounds to KD and he is OPEN. I leap up with Mo Harkless and barely block it. It was insane!

O/T I hit a 3, get a turnover, get an easy 2, then bleed clock. Game over.

Anyways, if this was Madden for you Madden folks, it would be like losing to the Lions because all the other guy does is throw it up to Megatron and he catches it in traffic because Madden lets you do that now. It was a no skills game. Westbrook is insanely fast and maybe the best finisher on the game.

PS4. I'm euro league now. I lost two in a row with the Blazers. I played a good warriors user. He walked the ball up the court every time and looked to find mismatches. I blew it in the end plus Lillard choked. The biggest thing with the Blazers is that they have little post offense. When I have a guy under the basket and Bogut breathes on him, he misses. I had a stretch in the 3rd quarter where my wouldn't stop trying to trap. Steph missed two open threes then on the second offensive rebound he drilled it. I lost to the cabs next and same problem. It's close late and I'm milking clock. I go up with Kaman to extend the lead and he misses a bunny. He ties it up then gets a turnover and wins.

Ibswitched to the Spurs to avoid demotion. Beat the Cavs pretty easily. Amazing how much better the Spurs/Warriors are than most teams on the game.

I used to play 2K and NCAA(Football) only, never offline. But in my old age and having kids, it's easier now to just play all offline, even though it's not the same.

I play the shite out of 2K every year, but I've played I think only 1 random online game against someone I didn't know(played a couple against friends), and it was much like your game sounded.

I think I won something like 65-60, and the dude I played had like 55 of his 60 points with Kobe lol. He'd inbound to Kobe, and at about half court he'd just sprint right to the goal untouched for a layup every time. I couldn't figure out how to stop it for 2 quarters and he was up big. Finally figured it out in the 2nd half and cruised to the victory, but it certainly wasn't remotely fun.

Damn, old man Kobe really did you in It's frustrating. Westbrook might be the fastest player on the game. He has like 95 speed and 98 acceleration? Then on top of that, he's really good at finishing in traffic. You have a few options:

1. Try to cut off the baseline/lane to hoop (Works most of the time)
2. Bring help D (Again, works a lot)
3. Meet him a few feet inside the 3pt line

More like 2 and half. Maybe some other strategies, but idk how effective. All those are sound strategies. But I couldn't stop it at all.

I'm not going to lie though, when I need an easy bucket and see it, I go coast to coast with Lillard if I see their help Defense hasn't gotten back to help or if I get a step up on the defender. The VERY FIRST thing I do after every basket is to take control of the C and sprint back to my hoop to defend against this. Then I switch to the PG and play out the possession.

Awesome

I just got to NBA. I lost my first two in Euro League as I described above. I played 6 or 7 straight with the Spurs. Won all but the last. I played the Cavs and LeBron went 4/5 from 3 I had 1 game remaining but I needed two wins for the trophy. I chose the Magic thinking they had their C. Nope.

I played an okayish cavs user. I mostly beat him on the break and defended against his 3 ball. I was 3/3 from 3 at the half, he was like 2/12. I had a double digit lead most of the game. He brought it down to 7 when I went "prevent" offense and drained clock. I'm notoriously bad at protecting the lead. Figured if I didn't try to make something happen, then I won't turnover the ball leading to easy points for them

I'm better suited with a team that can play uptempo and has multiple defenders. Even thought I went 6-1 or whatever with the Spurs, 5 of those not being close at all, I just struggle to get things going. Geen and Leonard are my only good perimeter defenders and idk why they do this but Duncan LOVES to hang out at the 3pt line and Leonard LOVES to run like hell up and down the court. He's usually just as fatigued as my bigs after a quarter when he shouldn't be.

Historical Teams Wish they'd put Rasheed on the Blazers '00 roster. It bugs me that these historical rosters are incomplete. Defeats the purpose. Why have them? Think I'm going to try the 12-13 Heat and rock some of the old school Sonics Jerseys using The Glove too

I can't close games

Had my opponent on the ropes 3 out of my last 4, I went on to lose them all. Up 5 with a minute to go, he goes on a 9-2 run and takes the W. Was the 98 LAL against the Warriors and I'm controlling the tempo, dominating with SHAQ but the last 5 minutes of that game, Shaq was too slow to guard his guy properly or he's miss layups at the hoop.

Bumping.

I had a stretch of crappy internet games. Whole possessions would lag. Took about 7 Ls due to it. I tried a few things with my router and it seems to be working again. Every now and again I get some lag. Only in 2k too. I could play madden picture perfect.

Anyways, I'm 45-22 I think now. I just tried out the thunder. I tried doing what other users would do and sprint up and down the court with beast brook but unfortunately I played the Cavs and LeBron and Irving weren't having it. I turned the ball over four times on my first 7 possession found myself down fourteen. Lucky me my opponent thought LeBron was a 3pter :lmao: (though I have a short story. One of my first losses came against the Cavs when LeBron went 4/5 from 3. Was ridiculous) Westbrook got into foul trouble down the stretch but I was able to chip away at the lead by pushing tempo and getting durant good looks. Once I settled down (I was a mess to start. I had no clue how to use this team) I took the lead and made him to to beat me with LeBron. He rage quit down 3 with 47 left after he missed a layup with LeBron.

Raptors are really fricking good to use. Sub in Patrick Patterson for Scola, and Ross for Powell and youre set. Ross and Derozan are like the lob brothers for me in transition.

I've used them three times when 2k put them in tier 2 for a day.

I subbed in the 7" C. Huge difference. Id get a block a quarter and alter players driving. I may go back to them. Probably my favorite team to use that I have no fan interest in.

I agree.

Not a fan of how I have to be a black kid no matter what on my player, but I guess it's not a massive deal. My GM is fantastic.

Those guys are the best. GSW takes some skill to actually win games with. The Miami LeBron teams in 2K took almost no skill from a few years ago. Look for a lane then poster anyone and everyone that tried to get in your way

GSW though, cheesiest roster if you know what you're doing. I'm the Spurs playing a GSW user. Att first he didn't seem to be much different than most of the GSW users. He'd look for shots with Curry or drive and pass out hoping he had a 3. About a quarter in though, he quits play Bogut and plays Green/Speights at C. His lineup would consist of Curry, Clark, Thompson, Barnes and Speights/Green. I couldn't stop the P&R with Green because he was too fast for my C to recover and if I brought any help, he'd drain the 3 outside. On top of that, I can't use Tony P at all. I lost by 3, had a couple shots at the end. I tied the game at the end of each quarter on a last second shot except the 4th

Played another game with 01 Lakers. Against the Warriors again. Slow start. The historic teams I usually always start slow with. The 13 Heat is the only one I don't start slow with (I haven't tried the Bulls teams yet). I pulled away in the 3rd. I'm up 11 with 2:30 to go. He hits 3 threes and I turn over the ball twice. 2 point game with 46 seconds I then dribble the ball into Iggy's knee, he gets ball and gets an easy shot on the break. I just blew an 11 pt lead with 2:30 to go. I inbound then throw to Shaq streaking up court. Easy dunk. He then tries to throw to Curry halfway up the court. Ball flies out I get Shaq on another dunk. With 30 seconds he does the same thing with Speights but I get a body there. And 1. He's up 1 now with 25 to go. I dribble around looking for Shaq or a lane with Kobe. I get to Shaq with 4 left and he hits a layup. 59-58. He takes a timeout and coming out of the timeout, he runs up the court with Curry and chucks it out again :lmao: There was more than one game's worth of ridiculousness in the last 3 minutes of this game.
