There's a certain crowd of gamers here who have an aversion to anything space or fantasy related. They just won't touch it regardless of how great the game is.
Bro-gamers, I guess.

Can't speak for everyone, but for me personally, it's just not my cup of tea. I equate it to gamers who love sports games but prefer madden/NCAA over Hockey or Soccer games (or vice versa). Modern day warfare is as far as I'll go for FPS.
Not saying they are bad games, but futuristic warfare and weaponry do not interest me in the slightest.

The point I'm trying to make is that CoD and Battlefield are what they are and I'm not trying to change those games, but make a better Frankengame.
This is where I applaud and loathe Warfighter. Warfighter did what I wanted, just not with the end result being buttery smooth, pretty or well-designed.
Warfighter did excellent in:
Guns
Blue on blue fighting
Game modes
The guns feel amazing. Really, they feel perfect. And the attachments alter the guns a little allowing you to have an authentic feel--the sights and stocks make the most difference with the muzzle attachments and barrels tweaking your accuracy. It's real. And it works very well.
That game just failed in too many areas for the mass market EA was going after to stay alive. It's a shame. The core of that game was really good.

Sounds like you want something similar to the old America's Army. That game was awesome, and free too!

quote:I think you have a great point. And I've long hated perks. They're really stupid. Perks go hand in hand with the akimbo knife guys...if you want to run with just a knife in this new game, fine. But you can't teleport with it and you certainly can't do it while getting shot.
Just taking out snipers isn't going to fix the genre. I know you're not a COD guy, but the super marathon akimbo knifey guys are just as big of a headache to me.
Get rid of perks, like the ones that allow you to perform outside of the bounds of a normal soldier. If you're going to fall 3 stories, heck yeah you need to take some serious damage if not die.
I rethought the thing about picking up ammo. I'd much rather you not be able to pick up other guys' weapons. But, when you walk over them it does add rounds to your inventory if you need it. But I like the second part about tossing your buddy a mag.

Curious how this would work. Like one player hits a button requesting ammo, and you get a prompt asking if you want to give any.
I wouldn't be surprised if that pops up in a shooter soon. Seems like something that would have popped up by now. Or maybe it has in a game I haven't played.

Seriously, where does Battlefield even go next. The last 3 have been set in modern times (I think). There's only so much you can add. If you go to the future that opens up so many question marks. It may be time to go back to WWII.
With that said I'm going to pickup my BF4 copy.

Probably to Bad Company. I think they tried to do too much with BF4. Less is more sometimes. Like the specializations...it's kinda complicated and people really don't even know how or what they do.
Instead of eliminating them and making it simpler, they just went ahead and muddied it all up and made it derpier.

Yep. BF3 just felt so perfect.

Well it has to be simplified, not like the trade system in other games.
-request trade
-wait for player to see trade request
-player accepts trade request
-look through inventory to find trade item and drop in to box
-click "complete trade"
-wait for player to accept trade
Needs to be boom, boom, done.

Totally need more fps games. There's like, none.

Walk over ammunition/mags that don't go to your gun you can still collect it
When next to a teammate and they have that type of ammo "hold A" to give it to them.

Or, have ammo packs to drop or just strategically placed ammo caches.

Thoughts on Ghost Recon ?

Ghost Recon was okay. It was a solid effort, really. And a good start. But it's being drug down by being a TPS.

I think it's time for COD or BF to go back to WWII era. The new tech would allow for greater immersion and the gamer can take a break from all of the future weapon technology bullshite going on in these games.
Agreed.
I still enjoy those versions more than this stuff now days.
