What are the differences in the versions?

I thought it was based off res mapping so surprised there are a very limited number of airports and relatively limited number of planes

Interesting. It it just now going to closed Beta. I thought they might take a bit longer, since there is a lot of happenings in it.

I wonder if it will launch on Xbox as well at that point. Xbox/S/X are all underpowered for it, but the series X will run the game at optimal settings.

They want to expand the base of it, thus going the gamer route on Xbox. Sim vs. Gamer will be interesting, will one piss of the other with future updates.

I am ready for this title though, especially since we are in a semi-lockdown screwing actual vacations.

I’m hoping my Oculus quest will work with this. I’m finishing up a PC build now and got a 2070 Super. I’m thinking that should be enough.

That would be pretty cool for immersion with this game. Graphics look awesome with real sat maps and real time world weather.

At first I didn’t believe this but I looked it up and damn, you right. Obviously the graphics are great but only being able to takeoff and land from a few airports is a bit of a bummer.

It's my understanding that you can still takeoff and land at most real airports, it's just that they modelled the ones mentioned in a lot greater detail. I think the rest of them are more generic versions.

ETA: Here is where I got this info.

So reading up more. This is PC only at release. Xbox will be later, probably with the Series X.

3 different versions to buy

Microsoft Flight Simulator price

Microsoft Flight Simulator will be released in three versions: The Standard Edition will cost $59.99, and will let you fly 20 different planes, and land (and takeoff) from 30 different airports. The Deluxe Edition ($89.99) will include 25 aircraft and 35 airports, and the Premium Deluxe Edition ($119.99) will include 35 aircraft and 35 airports.

The Standard Edition is also available as part of Xbox Game Pass for PC (beta), which is currently just $1/month.

A trio of editions are available, and even the standard one will set you back £60/$60. With that, you'll get 20 detailed planes with unique flight models and 30 hand-crafted airports (every airport will be available, but not all with the same level of bespoke detail). That's the version you'll get if you're a Game Pass subscriber.

Really hoping for IAH and ORD as ones with massive details

Looks like ORD is in the two more expensive packages, but no IAH (which I was really hoping for too).

Scroll down here & you can see all airports & aircraft.

Either way I have pre-loaded the game and I am looking forward to flying over certain locations.

Tower 7, I'm a Navy Seal, how would you know, I guess you must have been there, I was a Navy Seal, I live in the Baja, why don't you tell me if you're such a Patriot.

Curious as to how dumbed down they can make the flying since I will essentially be starting from scratch with this game.

I’m seriously thinking about getting this. But I need to expand my RAM and buy a good joystick/rudder combo so that’s gonna get kinda pricy.

Might be a nice Christmas present
