That really well done Star Citizen trailer has me wanting to head to space.

I've never played the Mass Effect games.

Should I start from the beginning? Should I start in the middle? 3? Will 1 feel too dated?

Rank the games for me.

you playing on PC?

I played through ME 1 and 2 a couple of months ago. 1 felt dated at first, but after a couple of hours you get used to it and its not so bad. The game and story gets better as you go along. I really enjoyed 1 and 2. never got around to 3 yet.

Play 1 if you like elevators.

Play 2 if you like lots of womenz.

Play 3 if you want to play Mass Effect.

Play 1 if you like good games
Play 2/3 if you like garbage like Gears of War

ME1 was heavy on legit RPG elements. Gearing, spec'ing, things like that actually matter.

ME2 was a little more actiony, but still great. Probably the most balanced of RPG/Action elements

ME3 had awesome gameplay, but the story shits on anything you might have done in 1 & 2.

All have a great story, with pronounced negatives. ME1, the Mako sucked DICK. But I loved the exploration aspect of it, so I dealt with it. I missed that in ME2, but it felt decidedly dumbed down, but not necessarily offensively so. It was still really good. But the lack of ability to really "gear" yourself bugged me. I just hate ME3 because it cheapens the first two. Gameplay is a winner, but as a continuation of the story in the first two, it blows it. Definitely caters to people entirely new to the series and eradicates any decisions you might have made in the previous titles (in my mind, a huge sin). If you're new to the series and only want to play one, ME3 is amazing. But I dunno about it if you play through from the original.

I would go 2, 1, 3.

2 was the best game from playing standpoint and second best story. (and yvonne strahovski is a potential romantic partner)

1 was the best story to bring you in but the worst gameplay IMO.

3 was far the worst story and ending but really good gameplay (very similar to 2).

The truth is, most of the games are pretty interchangeable with what the player enjoys.

If you haven't played them and are wanting to, start from the beginning and don't read spoilers. Enjoy the ride and you won't regret any of the games or time spent.

I have tried to play mass effect on two seperate occasions, but both times I had to stop because of my eyes hurting! It doesn't happen with any other game. Anyone ever had this happen?

2 is the best all around. 1 is by far the best story but the gameplay lacks. 3 gives you the feels reuniting with all your old crew for one last hoorah! 2 is my favorite game of all time I played it fully 8 times

When getting into a series, always, always go by release date order. Start at the first game, movie, book, etc, and just work your way up.

Play Mass Effect, enjoy a great storytelling experience. Play ME2, play an even better storytelling experience with improved combat.

Then play ME3. I guess.

Alright. ME3 gets a bad shake, but you will absolutely enjoy a certain DLC in ME3 just based on how awesome ME 1 and 2 were.

Mass Effect 1 is dated, but start from 1. It's not that bad.

I played through 1, 2, and 3 one after the other and pretty much gave up on ever having a game experience like that again

This guy right here has the best overview. Basically if you are more RPG oriented you'll probably like 1 the best, but if you are a little more action game oriented you'll probably like 2 more. Both are excellent games though and pretty close for me. I enjoyed 3 as well, but the ending is rightfully slammed.

I'm still going with my answer of, yes the games are great, two is better than one, but the two mass effect games are great games.
