If you think that means Turtle Beaches and Astros, get out. I'm talking Bose and Sennheiser. I've currently got a pair of Astro A40's. They are what I wanted them to be. They're a comfortable, sturdy gaming headset that I can wear for hours with no negative effects. That being said, they leave a LOT to be desired when I want to just blast music into my skull. So I'm in the market for a quality headset that will give the music the quality output it deserves. If it has a built in microphone, great, but it's not necessary. It's preferred, but not required. I'm willing to pay for the quality, but if I'm going to unload that much money on a headset, I want it to be able to handle everything. Highs, mids, and lows. Like I said above I've been looking at some Bose and Sennheiser headsets, but if I can stay within the realm of gaming and get the sound quality I'm looking for, that's even better. Any suggestions?

I upgraded to Sennheiser 598's a few months ago, loooove them paired with an amp.

I wanted something great for music as well, while still good for gaming, and it was between these and the Audio Technica M50X and after looking at tons of reviews the consensus was the 598's were better overall especially for the gaming aspect to go with the music.

I don't. Us Hog fans don't have to worry about such trivial things.

In all seriousness, I probably wouldn't spend more than $400.

Those look sick. I'm assuming it handles all three levels well?

Those pc363s are most likely the best headset you can find. They are extremely nice.

I got an AKG K701 a few years back and it's absolutely lovely. I wish I could full advantage of them, but I do love them.

I would stick with your decision though. Seems like a good fit.

I purchased the Shure SE215-CL earphones recently. I'm not an audiophile by any means, but I can definitely appreciate the fidelity of a nice pair of head/earphones. I think they are probably the best pair of earphones that I've listened to for <$100 (It's $99). I'd even say they are better than most pairs that range from 100-200. They perform stunningly well at any frequency.

Something that attracted me to them is that it has detachable cables: I tend to put a decent amount of wear on my cables over the course of a headphones' lifetime. So, being able to just replace the cable instead of purchasing an entirely new pair is beneficial to me. I'm eventually going to buy the cable that comes with a mic so I can use it for social gaming, but I don't really game much with friends. So, it's not urgent. They are also great at noise isolation. I used them when I mowed the lawn a couple weeks ago and the mower was just a low buzz when I didn't have any music playing. Likewise, on a recent flight, the cabin was near silence.

As I'm writing this, I'm realizing you are probably wanting on-ear/over-ear headphones rather than in-ear headphones. Oh well, if you're interested in in-ear headphones at all, I'd definitely recommend the SE215. They're great for music, gaming, monitoring, and pretty much anything. I use them extensively.

Edit: Looks like you found a pair. I guess I should read more.

For gaming, my Steelseries are great, the comfort level is what really bumps them up a notch + good audio quality.

I have a pair of Grados for listening to any music format.

AKG k701 and beyerdynamic dt 990 600ohm are the best ~$200 cans you can get. You'll have to spend the other $200 on an amp/dac and mic
