I agree 100%. Having a blob for a person that you don't have any real involvement with makes most of the story kind of an afterthought.

That's the point. Link is just a vehicle for the player to explore what the story is. It's not Legend of Link.

It's why I think a first person Zelda game would really work.

Yea, well, this is what I think written in Link's voice:

".............."

Sick burn.

I recommend turning off the profanity filter so you can really get a feel for the insult.

I don't think it's necessary.

Its not.

Link is set up in a way that he is actually you in the story. its the reason he doesn't talk.

Overall I liked TP better than SS. I liked SS, but it was very forgettable. I remember a ton of TP still.

You can still have this with him speaking. Why can't they design a game with you as the main character (in which you make ZERO choices) that also has voice acting....

It's laziness using an unintended tradition as a way to leave out a required feature for every other game.

I hate that it's so criticized in the Zelda community for being so dark and plot holish...which you never really notice during the game.

I like TP, but the reason it's not among my Zelda favorites is it tries too much to be Ocarina of Time and the fact that Ganondorf is yet again the main villain. Really if the plot has nothing to do with the Triforce (and this one doesn't), then Ganon should be left out. Zant should have been the main antagonist, and it pissed me off a bit that he turned out to be a pure spaz and not an evil mastermind.

And as far as darkness is concerned, it has nothing on Majora's Mask as far as a dark atmosphere is concerned. Really MM may be the darkest and most apocalyptic game ever made, and if not it certainly is for Nintendo. Yeah, the darkness in MM is subtle and not as much in your face as many games, but it's the best game I can think of that sews its darkness into the subtext and the game is masterful for doing it.

Which is better and why?

such a hard answer and just really a matter of preference

two completely different art styles

skyward sword is the most cinematic Zelda and the most original story since majora's mask

It is completely different from every Zelda game in a lot of ways

the entire map is essentially a dungeon in that you have to navigate it by solving puzzles, etc.

the dungeons are very inventive and fun, but much less challenging than previous incarnations

Twilight princess gets a lot of shite because they say it's an ocarina copy and paste and to an extent that complaint is true (but is that really so bad?)

no spoilers but the final boss really pissed some people off.

Personally both are incredibly excellent. I prefer the dungeon styles and map of TP, but in the end, I think Skyward Sword is the better of the two

but like I said, it's a really tough choice to make

When was the large big AAA game to not have voice acting?

My point exactly. OoT is considered one of, if not THE, greatest game ever made. So why not capitalize off of it? And to the other poster, I know that I wasn't talking about the plot line or setting. Just the graphics.

I will say, Zant's entrance music is badass.

It just takes so much away from the character. He doesn't matter as a character. He is a formless blob with a sword and shield.

That's because you're supposed to envision yourself as Link going on his badass quests. Duh.

Giving Link a voice and fleshing out his character would take away from the feeling that you yourself are going on the adventure instead of just controlling some other character

There's something charming about it

Can you give such an iconic character a voice? Of course. That issue is overplayed. But there's something charmingly simplistic and even imaginative without the voice

I'm not opposed or against. Just my 2 cents

Every other AAA game comes broken too, should Nintendo try that?

I like them both. My 6 year old likes Twilight Princess better because of the Midna character, but she's six and doesn't know anything.
