I started with Froakie and picked up Charmander later on. My first catch was Pidgey and he evolved into Pidgeotto last night. Then after the next battle Charmander evolved into Charmeleon. Training and watching those two evolve reminded me how much I love this series.

Plus the customization of your character and interactions you have with your Pokemon outside of battle are HUGE upgrades. I'm having fun with it. Nintendo always goes balls to the wall with Pokemon games but they went over and beyond with this game. It will be the first time I've ever bought both editions because I'm genuinely excited to see what Y is like after I'm done with X.

I actually took this excitement of Pokemon a little too far.

Purchased roughly $200 of Pokemon cards off of eBay. WTF am I doing?

Do what you need to do brother. I remember spending way more on them when I was a kid. Those things were addicting to collect when all of the kids in your grade were getting them and actually playing the trading card game every day.

The thing is, I didn't collect them as a kid. I was more into sports cards.

I guess I always wanted 1st editions of the original starter pokemon from Red/Blue. So finally getting it as an adult.

EDIT:
I didn't purchase the 1st edition charizard yet. The auction I was in.. the thing sold for $303

Yeah, Charizard was a HUGE deal back in the day. If you had a Charizard, you were a bad son of a bitch.

since I found my old gameboy, should I go back and get blue and give it a shot? Is it a turn based RPG?

shite, I need to see if mine is 1st edition or not. I know I had the entire first set completed. Sleep is such bullshite in that game

I haven't played a Pokemon game in a long time, but I might jump into one of these two to see how far things have come.

I havent bought a new game since gold/ silver but I actually played through gold over the summer on my GBC. I cheated and used my gameshark and played with Cyndaquil, Totodile, Chikorita, HO-OH, Lugia and Mewtwo from the get go, but I had fun doing it.

IDK if you plan on downloading the Y's version of mega evolutions but I can trade you.

Since we both have the opposite game, trading evolved versions we can't get in game could keep us off Pokedit. I'm trying to stay off Pokedit until I beat all the gyms. lol

If I haven't played a Pokemon game since the Silver/Gold days, could I still get into these? I love Red/Blue/Yellow/Silver/Gold, btw.

Counting both versions evolutions.

So, Eevees aren't rare anymore? You could only get one in red and blue. You had to trade for them with friends.

Shows you how long it's been since I played Pokemon.

Hey Henry is there a way you can transfer your pokemon from past games onto X and Y? They let you do that in the latest pokemon games so I was just curious
