So, we’ve decided to do just that – we’re excited to announce that the survival game will now be called H1Z1: Just Survive, with a renewed focus on truly delivering a persistent, open-world zombie survival experience where scavenging, crafting, and base building are the difference between life and death.

We’re also excited to announce that the fast-paced shooter comprised of multiple, fight-to-the-death game modes, including Battle Royale, will be called H1Z1: King of the Kill (KotK).

Additionally, we are happy to tell you that we'll be bringing H1Z1: King of the Kill out of Early Access on the PC and to Xbox One and PlayStation® 4 this summer. We’re working on our plans for bringing H1Z1: Just Survive out of Early Access and to console as well, and we’ll share more details about that in the future.

Anyone who already owns H1Z1 will be granted both versions and will see it listed in your Steam games inventory on February 17th (the official day of the split). Additionally, existing crates, keys, and items will be duplicated across both games.

All other devs need to take note, this is how you execute Early Access to perfection.

I just thought about it because of what you said about how this is how Early access is done well.

Right. 99% of Early Access games fail to deliver, including Ark. Ark was a complete mess on PC as badly as DayZ Standalone, unoptimized to unplayable even on the best of the best hardware. You could have a $3,000 PC and not run Ark or DayZ beyond 30FPS on even high settings. And they've been like that for their entire Early Access period.

Not even close.

They're not even the same game, so this makes no sense. Might as well say Ark > CoD.

But still wrong either way.

H1z1 sucks balls and you are retarded if you don't think the way the Ark Devs have run their early access is the way all Devs should be doing it.

Those frickers have worked their arse off delivering updates and fixes. It may not be what you like in a game, but the effort those guys have put into their game is second to none.

No, H1Z1's main mode is Battle Royale which is like a Free For All game mode with 150 people (there are also 2 and 5 person team modes). You spawn into the map and have to go find guns, cars, med kits, ammo, etc, and get to the safe zone on the map. A toxic gas begins to close in on the map every few minutes until the area gets incredibly small and the last person or team alive wins.

There are talks that it's being brought into eSports, the team mode, because it's been so popular when they host the major events with big/popular streamers and YouTubers.

So basically Survival of the fittest in Ark?

I was complementing them....

I am one of the people that actually didn't mind the Dino nerf they did.

I know, I am not a fan of the game, but I am a big fan of the way they have run their early access. They did what they said they were going to do, they deserve praise for it.

frick no they don't are you shitting me? The game was unplayable for the entire first year.

Jesus.

H1Z1 is the model example for how to do Early Access right and it isn't even close.

Ran ARK at 50 FPS with my 780 just fine a week after launch. playing now i dont even get a loading screen when i go into caves.

played H1Z1 from feb-june last year. total shite show. BR is all there is to do because there is no workable anticheat. nothing but chinese hackers running rampant clipping through your shite and stealing all your ammo. constant server wipes so you have to restart. you wait a month for a patch expecting fizes and all you get are new cosmetic items. terrible AI and spawns.

ARK wasnt even under development until Oct 2014, and it came out 8 months later in June. tThe whole frikkin game from scratch in 8 months, and there have been updates literally every week. theyre on frikkin patch 235 for petes sake.

It wouldnt even matter if the game was still in piss poor shape, which it's not, not even on console. The Devs dedication and get shite done mentality sets them far and and above anyone else.

Daybreak is only interested in milking people for money. Thats all this game split is about, being able to charge for separate things. They've got maybe 3% of the original development team, and it's because theyre toxic to their employees and their vision, and tie their hands with any actual progress.

Google: Ark unoptimized, it was literally unplayable for 95% of players for about the entire first year. It was absolutely awful. A $3000 PC couldnt run it on high without constant frame drops into the teens. If you took DayZ Standalone optimization and compared it to Ark it was one in the same. Nice try. There are way way too many posts on how poorly optimized that game was and likely still is to try and twist it. A GTX 970 and 4690K on high would average 30FPS with dips into the teens just 4 months ago @1080p. And that was on the beach not in the forest which would be about constant teens.

This is completely false. H1Z1 launched to near perfection with fantastic optimization. Anticheat has been in the game for quite some time and is updated every patch, they also display the name of the player that was banned at the top of the screen and have for quite some time. Again false.

Completely false once again. H1Z1 has had a roadmap on their website with full patch details for upcoming patches with dates and have had that since Day 1 on top of Dev blogs and constant dev updates on their forum with more patch details, notes, etc. They have hit those dates more times than not, which relays to an average patch every 2-3 weeks. Not only that but community involvement is incredibly high, giving the community what they want and listening to them. That is why it is regarded as the prime example of how to do early access right.
