Final Fantasy XIII-2 (Time Traveling)

Is anyone as excited as I am for this game?
Most people ripped the original XIII to shreads, I actually enjoyed it a lot (FF is my all-time favorite video game series)
They fixed the linearity, added tons of side quests, towns, revamped the battle system (and encounters) and now a time travel system.
Jan 31st can't get here fast enough.

As they should. It was pretty shitty. The characters were pretty good, but the gameplay was downright awful. Linear and repetitive. I almost didn't finish it.
I'm skeptical to try 13-2. I'm much, much more excited for FF13: Versus. It's going to be made by the same guy that made FF7 and Kingdom Hearts.

This is the same way I'm thinking. I actually didn't mind the battle system that much but what really made me mad was the character development and the story. Easily the worst FF story out of them all and the characters back story very very weak.

Did not know this. Kingdom Hearts was way too kiddy for me, but I played a little of it, and the gameplay was solid. FFVII speaks for itself.

The characters in FFXIII sucked. The only ones who were decent were Vanille and Lightning, who was a female Cloud. Hope was such an annoying character that I would let him die on purpose.
Also, I'm a little biased towards this game since I lost 60 hours worth of gameplay right before the last boss due to a file save corruption. FFXIII can go frick itself.

No. Hironobu Sakaguchi, the director of FF7 and several of the classic FF games, left Square before the Enix merger in the early 2000s. He went on to found Mistwalker Studios and has been there since he left Square
Tetsuya Nomura, the director of Versus 13 and the person you are referring to, was just a character designer on FF7. He also worked on XIII-2 in the same capacity.

"Nomura stated in July 2011 that most of the cut-scenes in the game will be real-time and the player will still be in control of the main character while the cut-scene is happening.[12] The player will be able to run around and perform various actions during the cut-scenes. Oh ok. I was misled then, but still. I'm excited. FF13 Versus looks sweet.
I guess you're right. It's been a while since I played it. I remember liking Vanille and Lightning. That little boy I fricking hated. And the blonde dude was cool I guess. Everyone else was pretty meh.
Overall, FFXIII was a pile of dogshit.

I actually liked sazh a lot - probably more than lightning but less than vanille. I am looking forward to xiii-2 although the fact that hope is supposed to be a major npc really turns me off.

I really fricking hate that kid. His constant bitching ranks up there as one of the more annoying aspects of any video game (a list which includes the Navi from Ocarina of Time, Natalya from Goldeneye, Guilty Spark from Halo, etc.).

I've been waiting for versus 13 since 13 came out (they were supposed to be released at the same time)
It will be epic indeed
But xiii-2 takes xiii and makes it 200x better (it also has multiple endings btw, a la chrono trigger) and I really enjoyed xiii. I'm psyched

I did buy bf3 and mw3 recently. I play them when the Internet gods and time allows.
Back on topic, I think Hope is the worst video game character ever created. Quite the accomplishment. Very competitive category.

I usually get immersed in RPGs, but god damn if I didn't shout "Shut the frick up Hope!" every time he opened his mouth. I really hated that little shite.
Vanille's voice actress bugged the hell out of me too.
Versus has a lot of potential, should it ever actually release. Seems every year we hear more of it being pushed back cause of other games.
