How do the graphics compare to Remake?

From what I have seen it’s a step up.

I haven’t played it yet as I opted to buy and play crisis core for the lore. Been great so far.

But from what I have seen from the demo and what’s been talked about the demo….the graphics are improved.

SQE announced today on the 21st when the Junon portion of the demo comes it will be alongside a patch that intends to fix up a lot of the blurry and ugly graphics while playing in performance mode. This will also obviously be applied to the full games launch. Pretty good news and nice of them to fix the demo.

Crisis Core Reunion (the remastered version that’s altered a bit story wise from the OG PSP game to bring it in line with remake) plays orders of magnitudes better than the original game on a handheld system. The entire combat system got overhauled to some degree or another to accommodate console controllers. It’s visual style was also brought in line with remake. Crisis core was never a game anyone really played for the gameplay or combat though it is 100% a story game even more so than most final fantasy and anyone invested in the remake trilogy it is really kind of required “reading” if you will at this point. That’s not just my interpretation SQE themselves have made it clear. As far as how long it is that’s completely dependent on the player. Like most handheld games for the pre switch era there’s a ton of time sink stuff you can choose to do in the form of missions and these are done at save points to obtain a massive variety of things from summons, to items, to gear, to story exposition. None of them are really necessary though relative to how good you are at the game and how much help you need through those mission rewards. Crisis core isn’t the easiest FF game by any standard. I’d say for the average person who doesn’t really want or need to 100% every side quest or mission but wants to do the ones that give the rewards they need or want + the main quest you’re looking at roughly 20-25 hours. If you want to 100% the game 40+.

I like the game a lot for various reasons. It’s one of the only FF games I’ve ever seen without an easy mode only normal and hard and hard is actually really fricking hard. It s got the same baseline materia system as FF7 but kind of builds out differently from that foundation and eventually you’re allowed to combine and create you’re own materia based on what you want and what’s most beneficial to how you play. It’s most recognizable element the DMW slot machine esque that constantly runs in the top left as long as you have SP (a resource in the game called soldier points) is very controversial. People either hate it or love it. Imo it’s pretty great and a novel take at implementing gameplay and story together as it operates off Zach’s memories and confidants he meets along his journey. Many people don’t like it though and I get why it. It combines your limit break, summons, even when you level up into a somewhat chance based random slot machine although it’s not entirely pure random chance as it might seem initially.

I find the combat system in crisis core to be very fun, but the game itself is super grindy and prone to really sudden difficulty cliffs if you’re not careful. Definitely a game for folks who enjoy a challenge.

I’m a big Souls fan. Would you compare it to that?

Little bit, in that it’s active combat where positioning, dodging, and parries matter, but I wouldn’t necessarily describe it as “Souls-like.”

Thanks. I’m in chapter 11 of Remake and don’t really care for the combat to be honest. I feel like “dodging” doesn’t really work.

Also I HATE when you cast a spell and the enemy hits you before yet it still takes MP even though the spell didn’t get cast

It’s only real similitude to FromSoft is it’s a 3rd person action game. The feel and difficulty are both almost entirely different.

I really have enjoyed Crisis Core combat. Have to remember what it originally released on as well. I like the randomness of the slot wheel. Always nice when you hit a level/limit/summon.

Also really like how at times you will get free cast and AP usage. Bonuses in those and HP when you don’t get damaged etc. I think it fits the PSP well.

The dialog is a little dry at times. Not a fan of materia fusion just because I have to lvl materia that I don’t feel like having in a slot compared to something stronger etc.

Missions are not bad. They are pretty short and sweet. However I would hate these if they took up a lot of time as they are just so many of the .

Mostly playing for the lore with no other real expectations but pleasantly surprised with the combat that I had low expectations for.

The combat is a lot better and more fun in the remaster for consoles. It was pretty shitty on PSP with way less buttons and a much worse layout. The DMW is fine most people don’t understand it. It’s not really near as random as it seems.

Finishing up Crisis Core. About to fight final boss but had to go out of town.

Crisis core def enhances Zack and cloud. Genesis and Angeal were good catalyst but ultimately it sets the tone as why Cloud would basically take Zack’s identity or carry on his legacy.

Zack is a bit annoying but a 10/10 dude and I now know why cloud admired him.

Didn’t do a crazy amount in regard to Sephiroth. Felt like 7og did a solid job at fleshing out Sephiroth. CC was just a rehash plus a little extra for him.

This reunion version of CC is a solid 8.5/10 for me.

Negatives were really just that the dialog feels quite empty at times. Missions were like crack but I feel like there is more than what’s really needed. But more power to those people. Think I have about 35% progress in regards to those. I’m just at the point I’m ready to finish the game and move on to the demo so I will not finish all of those.

Have tickets to see Advent Children tonight. Is it worth seeing in terms of something we should know before Rebirth? I know it takes place a few years after OG (already played) but is interesting that they decided to put it in theaters with “new” info and footage for the new game. Could also just be a cash grab to capitalize and they don’t care at which order new players consume the storyline.

I thought CC was alright. I top played rebirth. What was most jarring for me was seeing updated graphics and models move like the old psp models

Combat was fun

Def a way to get some quick $$.

Wife and I watched it again last week and we enjoy it but it’s always just a meh part of the story.

Doesn’t surprise me they are putting new stuff or tying it in to the trilogy so I’d def give it a watch…I’d maybe even read up on Dirge of Cerberus if you haven’t played. They seem to be trying in everything.

I finally beat CC last night and started the demo. I only played slightly past Nibelhiem and was happy to see how true they kept to the dialog when they were at the entrance…when Sephiroth was talking about his mother Janova etc.

I had just witnessed that exact seen just days before. So that was really cool. Also the scenes with clouds mom and in tifas room Lolol.

Only a couple of fights so far but I really enjoy the addition to the perfect block making you immune to damage. Felt smooth.

Don’t think I found any treasure in the open world just yet. Just a couple shinra boxes with potions. Moving around the terrain can feel clunky at times. But I only explored just a little outside nibelhiem. Will likely finish it tonight.

Ive never seen it before but wasn’t sure If it was worth going to see it in theaters for the extra stuff included or just renting it for story alone.

I have no idea of what new they will add but I imagine it will be how they decide to tie it into the remake so it is something I will have to actively look for as I won’t see that version. Wouldn’t be worth watching again for me but maybe worth it for you considering you haven’t seen any of it.

ETA: Or not lol just seems to be gameplay and an interview. If so then you won’t be missing anything important if you just rent it.
