Whatever is new is what is hated. FF12 was the bad one. FFX-2 before that. I remember people hating on FFX on GameFAQS 12 years ago. It happens.

FFX was the first game I got on the PS2, back when I was like 9-10 years old

Completely agree
Seems to me that FFVIII is the overrated one on the board these days. I won't be surprised if in a few years it won't get the love that it gets now.

I was about 9 when the first Final Fantasy came out. No internet to get a tutorial, just a special issue of Nintendo Power if you were lucky enough to have subscribed.
But in FF13, I think I skipped too many random battles and not leveled up enough. I'm stuck on Barthandelus and he casts Doom and I croak. I follow the recommended set ups and I can't finish him. It's such a time sink each time to deal with it.

How do you know you hate the genre if you waited so long to play a game in the most popular series in said genre?

Played through Lost Odyssey and now working on Ni no Kuni, if that classifies as a JRPG.

I've been at the final boss for about a year. Haven't been able to actually sit down and play the game. It. Something I have to psych myself into doing. I kinda want to finish the game bc I want to do the side quest mission things.
