NEOGaf has the details:

LINK

Quite underwhelming.

quote:

-Third person perspective
-The game uses a hotbar to activate skills like other traditional MMOs
-Visually it looks like other Hero Engine MMOs like SWTOR
-The general art style is kind of like RIFT or Everquest 2
-You can't be a werewolf or vampire

As much as I like the ES series I am not really excited about this, I am sure I will try it. Maybe it's just the lack luster MMO releases lately that have me doubting the genre.

not to mention

-There will be no player housing

This seems more than underwhelming. Overwhelmingly underwhelming, maybe?

Agreed.

Todd Howard's team is not doing this game, FYI.

I know, I pointed it out on the first page.

The WoW mechanic is so tired. It killed SWG and is the reason SWToR sucks. If people want to play a wow clone they will just go play wow--someone else is not going to do it better, they'll just add different make-up.

So, Zenimax takes WoW and changes all mentions of Azeroth to Tamriel and--Voila--TES online. Weak sauce.

Pretty much. Elder Scrolls in name only.

Disappointing, and as I said earlier in the thread, they have the type of property that could risk doing something different.

Don't give a shite now.

After the SWTOR debacle, when a game is branded as an MMO I will run in the other direction unless it's made by Blizzard.

MMO is a deathwish, you just know you're going to be charged monthly for a subpar game.

Good lord. Have they not learned anything from Bioware failing with SWTOR?

Well MMOs are only fail because their scope requires them to be made by large companies with a shitload of money, and large companies with a shitload of money are scared to take a chance on something new. That's why game companies rise and fall.

Look at EA. It is approaching the end of it's lifespan, but 15 years ago they were making the top games. Now many people won't even consider games with EA on the label.

Look at Blizzard. They haven't made a non-sequel since WoW came out. Diablo 3 does nothing that Diablo 2 didn't. In 3 years we'll all be mocking Blizzard's latest release.

ZeniMax is best known as the owner of Bethesda Softworks, the developer of The Elder Scrolls game series, as well as the Fallout series starting with Fallout 3, focused mainly on computer role playing games. It also owns other game development studios, such as the newly acquired id Software, and publishes games developed by third party developers.

Dude, your link lists Zenimax as publisher of FoNV. Obsidian developed it. LINK

Besides, ZeniMax (owner of Bethesda Studios) is different than ZeniMax Online, the company that is developing TESOnline.

A couple of months ago they said the next game would be MMO. I don't blame them for doing it but I won't play.

So Zenimax the owner of Bethesda didn't contract the development of FONV?

Good God, man. If you just want to say you won the internet argument then go ahead. Obsidian made the game, Bethesda Softworks--which is owned by ZeniMax Media--published it in some areas. There were other publishers in other markets.

None of that has anything to do with Zenimax Media not being the same thing as ZeniMax Online Studios. ZeniMax Media owns Bethesda, Zenimax Online Studios makes games.

Irrelevent. ZeniMax Media did not make the game and have made zero Elder Scrolls or Fallout games. They may have published 238768 of them, they may have contracted the production of all of them. They developed none.
