The final approval hearing for the settlement? Thursday, July 16th. As in, two days from now.

With the lawsuit behind them, EA Sports could immediately start working toward the continuation of the series — something it has already publicly stated it wants to do.

The biggest hurdle standing in the way is that the NCAA still does not allow players to receive compensation from their likeness and EA Sports would be opening itself up to another lawsuit if it didn’t pay said players.

But a solution is much easier than it appears because EA Sports doesn’t need to use current players’ “likeness” for them to end up in the actual game. The solution is crowdsourcing.

I didn't know the settlement was only $40 million total, spanning back to 2003 for players that claimed it, while EA made an average of $80 million per year on the franchise.

Even if they started tomorrow it would take at least 2 years, even piggybacking off Madden, to really make an NCAA game from scratch. Unless of course they have had people covertly working on it, which I doubt knowing EA.

If true, they probably started on it in January when they reached that agreement and knew when the lawsuit was over/timeline, so they'd have a year and a half which is plenty of time.

solution is "crowdsourcing"

what does that even mean? they just need to make an NFL blitz game and be done with it

Had no idea any of this was the case, didn't know there was any hope for the series.

Now I have a throbbing clue

fo real? It mean they are going to let gamers do the work and upload the rosters like they been doing for years. No real reason for EA to make approximations of players when users will make them far more accurate themselves.

I like Blitz and all but eff that, I want a proper CFB game again.

I always did wonder why they didn't just randomize the rosters. Either way the games were trash by the end.

This is great news. But I thought having the actual school was a part of the issue as well.

I agree.

Which is ironic considering message boards across the internet were constantly riddle with posts about how terrible the game was.

"His dreads were 1.5 inches to short!!"

"This game doesn't have different colored shoe laces!!! Garbage game by a garbage company!!"

The NCAA haters were always good for a solid laugh.

There's a huge issue with the collegiate license and this article is nothing more than random speculation and wishful thinking more than likely to garner hits on their site around a time where people are looking toward college football.

This article brings nothing of value that people didn't know when the deal was struck a long time ago. In fact this same speculation has gone around since the time they discontinued the series.

It's an opinion man and it's fine to have differing views. I lean towards Gardoki because I saw a huge potential in the games yet year over year nothing major really changed. They tweak the physics engine, add sponsored apparel, or whatever but they never went above and beyond.

Pick up a copy of 2010 and a copy of 2013 and you'd be hard pressed to say the game is that much different

Yea, but didn't a few schools and maybe the PAC-12 take back their license from being in the game?

They can get the schools permissions seperate from the conferences. They can then make the conferences fully customizable, and if said school doesnt want to give permission then they will not be in the game, simple as that, players can then upload any image they want into the game system and make the team themselves and share them... Their is plenty of ways this can be done

EA just needs to work with the gamers on this and give us more free customizing options, like building stadiums/sounds, Making Uniforms/Teams any way we want including dowloading and uploading any images for team/conference logos. And allowing us to set up playoff brackets etc...
