I guess I don't get the rage. I haven't bought Madden or Tiger Woods or NCAA Football in years. I really am only faithful to Battlefield and I'd even give a next MoH a good look. Point is: I don't have to buy.

I'm the same. I don't buy any of their sports games except for the occasional FIFA and Battlefield is the only EA title I'm truly interested in at this point. There are plenty of other games from plenty of other developers that don't focus their efforts on nickel-and-diming the customer that keep me entertained.

When you say this, what do you mean? I guess I look at Battlefield Premium and think that was one hell of a well spent $50.

I don't think you know much about what you're talking about. If you're going to sit there and tell me ME3 played exactly like ME2 or DA2 played exactly like DA:O, you need your head examined.

Truth hurts

I will play BF4 no doubt but denying that it looks like BF 3.5 is having your head in the sand.

Best examples I can think of are Mass Effect 3 and Dead Space 3. Mass Effect was a rushed product with a single player campaign that had so many people enthralled and wanting more come crashing down to a disappointing ending. However, EA did decide to focus a lot of effort on a multiplayer portion of the game (which was fun, I'll admit) that included microtransactions for you to get better equipment and characters as well as map pack DLC since there isn't much DLC you can add to the story.

In Dead Space, they completely changed the game from survival horror to an action shooter with co-op in order to appeal to a wider audience instead of to the people that loved the creepy experience of the first game. They also changed the weapon and suit system to use resources that could be bought through microtransactions.

Bioware used to be great at this
I wouldn't give up on Bioware yet. From what I've heard, Bioware chewed EA out for making them rush DA2. That's why DA3 has had so much time in development. Bioware knew that product was shite and refused to do it again. IMO, they're the only dev that can stand up to EA. Even without EA, Bioware would still make great games and sell a ton of them. EA knows this.

I'm just going to ask you, though--what's wrong with that at this point? Isn't Battlefield 3 the prettiest or one of the prettiest and most tech advanced PC games, at least by some big publisher like EA?

All we saw was single player footage. And that looked like there had been some nice jumps in tech in the engine. Not huge leaps, but definitely improvements. I'm not stick poking you, but I really wonder what you were looking for.

How is that even possible.

Bro you went out way in left field for this one. Where in my post did I say DA2 was a good game? He listed those games as being exactly like their predecessors. Are you seriously going to say DA2 was exactly like DA:O?

There were combat mechanics added for 3 that weren't in 2 (being able to slide over walls, harder recoil on weapons, etc.). On top of combat in general being MUCH smoother. And if you think ME3 wasn't a graphical upgrade from ME2, I can't help you there. It's pretty obvious to me.

I think that whole path is pretty much unavoidable with FPSs. You get something that works and tons of people love it, so you are afraid to change much in order to keep the fans buying your game. People might eventually get tired of it, but then they can just start up with a new IP.

The problem isn't with BF4, Dice, or EA really. It will be a good product. I just think there is no where's left to go with a military FPS. Especially one that takes place in modern times and is based on being somewhat realistic (no aliens, etc) That's why CoD had to jump to the future which will never fly for BF and that's why BF4 looks like BF 3 DLC.

I will be happy with a BF game that doesn't look like I am wearing blue lenses the whole time though.

The warning sign is there, just like it was for the many iterations of Call of Duty. But like Lynyrd said earlier, until it starts to really get fricktarded I think I can be happy with Battlefield.

Having a color scheme like that is understandable for the gritty and dark atmosphere they try to promote, though.
