Back to back

quote:

For the second year in a row, readers of the consumer-watchdog website The Consumerist have named Electronic Arts "the worst company in America," vilifying the video game publisher more than Bank of America, Comcast and Ticketmaster (which took second, third and fourth places, respectively).

Funny. Worst company in America 2 years in a row. How much money did they make the last two years? Madden, NCAA, battlefield, FIFA, crysis, simcity, etc.

I'm neither a supporter or ditractor but if they suck so bad people should quit buying their products

I agree. Hell I didn't even buy the last COD, but did buy BF3 and will buy BF4. As long as it still plays good, I won't have a problem with them.

This thread,
Going places.

I read on this very forum that the only reason ea wins this is because video gamers don't know how the world works.

and EA = Manchester United FC

Of course we don't. We all just sit in our parent's basements oblivious to what is going on around us

I remember when we all said this about CoD.

Ea wants you to believe you have to pay 60 bucks for a "good game"

But all these $3 games I get off steam are pretty damn fun.

So for everyone saying "stop buying ea games", I'm wayyyy ahead of ya.

As a gamer, I hate ea

As a business man, I see what EAs business model is and they are still in business and own a frickton of the market and have legions of fans...they are doin something right

True and as long as the new BF plays like the one now, I will be 100% fine. I find it more enjoyable than COD. If that feeling goes away in the future, I will look for other games I suppose

And thus we have the onus of developers.

EA has an inferiority complex and is the perfect target for this kind of poll. Nobody reasonably expects Bank of America, Ticketmaster, et al. to pay attention to consumer ratings, much less respond with hilarious quips we can all mock like EA's representatives often do.

With two of these "awards" in a row, and the unfortunate company gradually losing profitability, the message seems like it is sinking in. Red herring LGBT deflections aside, EA executives know they are swimming in shite right now and at some point they are either going to have to acquiesce to at least some consumer expectations or implode.

EA is also being judged by its intentions and not its results. If a banking corporation behaves unethically, the consequences are generally more catastrophic than if a video game publisher behaves similarly. That will not stop people from judging them to be the same, anyway. For some, fricking over the consumer is fricking over the consumer - equivalence regardless of what your belligerence actually yields.

well its an EA product,
so
100% chance it plays EXACTLY like its predecessors

See: ncaa, madden, fifa, nhl, tiger woods, mass effect, dragon age, crysis, need for speed, fight night, and every single other EA game

No worries there

marketing>development.

1.Cut development times down 6-18 months
2.market the frick out of an incomplete game
3.Release a carbon copy of last years title with new cover art
4. revel in glory as fanboiz drop $60 without hesitation
5. nickel and dime customers for dlc

the EA way

Does EA really get credit for the success of Battlefield? Because I think that is like 98% DICE.
