I would say it is the most in depth game out in a while, and the best game in the last 2-3 years as far as rpg games.
I have play through about 1/3 of the game three times and can say the game does not play the same two times through with 2 different starting characters.
The Demon Sloth fight at the end of the fade(The Broken Circle) is one of the longest in a game of this type and hard to win on hard. The whole fade sub game in The Broken Circle is interesting change of form the normal sword and sandle game.
Only wish the party size would allowed the dog to stay with your main the whole game.
You only have 4 spots for party members and must watch for their wounds and their relations to your main character.
Alistair is a Templar tank
Leliana is a rouge
Morrigan is the wild mage, the one everyone wants to make love too.
Oghren is the Dawarven Berserker
Shale is a warrior tank
Wynne is a healing mage
Zevran is the Rouge assassin
Dog is your pet dog, you name.
Loghain the betrayer warrior.
Sten is another tank warrior.
Rotating those to the four spots will lead to much fun and the talk between Alistair and Morrigan is funny at times and worth having both in the party.
Starting type, I would suggest not picking a rouge if you are playing on hard or higher. You will miss out on many chest by not having a rouge in the party, but it is not worth the trade off to start as a rouge.
Morrigan makes the game, along with a good plot.

I've enjoyed it so far....
question. Is there any special armors or weapons? I'm only to redcliff and I hate buying apparel

Great game. Actually one of my playthroughs, I kept Dog in my party the whole time and was able to beat the game, he has some good abilities that come in handy, like overpower and the stun howl.
Wynne (for heals), my character, Alistair, Morrigan is usually how I roll though.
I find Alistair and Morrigan to be the most useful, and the other character you bring along mostly depends on your main character. Wynne complements my rogue well.

I've been playing for about 6 hours. I'm really enjoying the game. Right now my party is my character, Leliana, Morrigan, and Shale. I use Leliana for unlocking chests, Morrigan for magic, and Shale for brute physical strength. I'm really glad I have this game so I have something to play until my internet gets fixed and I can play MW 2 again.

My base party is:
Warrior (that I play)
Alistair
Morrigan
Wynne
I rotate in the rouge and Sten, when the wounds become to great before I can camp again.
Also Morrigan needs to be pulled many times as she will get many negavites towards your main, so pull her at the start of many quest and replace her with the rouge (to pick chest).
Push Morrigan back into the party after getting the next leg of a quest.
Sten is the first replacement when wounds take a toll, then the rouge and finally the dog.
You will need Sten on hard to finish many quest, replace Alistair with him when the time comes. Sten and the two handed sword does a great deal of damage in one blow and will be the focus of counter attacks first due to this...
The merchant at Lothering you save sell goods(very rare and very costly) and his son has a very speical ablitity that you will need to use. He will be at your camp with his son to meet your needs.
Good hunting all.

graphics, sounds, storyline, depth, replayability, fun.... it has it all.
got it for $10 off from gamestop this weekend too, awesome game for 50 bucks

I've found Shale to be a bit overpowered. It's fun to have in the party, but kinda makes some encounters too easy, at least on normal difficulty.
But yeah, great game. I'm almost through my first playthrough and can't wait to start a new one.

jefforize,
Use the quest item you get to take him out.
Get as close to him as you can, use the item; not your weapon or mix using both.
Also it is a vry good idea to have Sten on hand.
I have beat it 3 times using Wynne, Morrigan, Sten and my fighter on hard all three times.

that was the next thing i was gonna try, thanks bro. I thought i was making that fight a little more complex than it needed to be
this game has so many different storylines and ways to play through its insane... glad you knew which fight i meant
