Can't wait for the documentary in 2044 having them digging up all the digital downloads.

I'll probably pick it up (just out of trust for Bungie), but it really doesn't seem to be that interesting of a game. The more I see, the less interested I get.

At least half. With another big section dedicated to the printing and shipping of the million of copies they're going to be making.
There's no way it hits their target imo. It'll be big, but 10 million combined over its lifetime. Regardless, the huge shipment just means I'll be able to get it really cheap, really quick.

budgets can't continue to grow like this. That is an insane amount, no matter how good the game turns out to be.

I'm extremely interested based on the premise and the potential. I just hope they can pull it off.

I'm incredibly excited about Destiny. However, after watching this video a few times, I'm also incredibly disappointed with the way this game has been marketed thus far.
Bungie has revealed two gameplay videos of the game - the video from last year's E3, and the video we received about a week ago. Neither goes into any depth whatsoever as to why this game is not your standard FPS. In fact, the video last week didn't show anything unique - it was the most vapid, uninspiring gameplay footage Bungie could have selected. The majority of people still don't know what this game is actually about, and last week's gameplay footage didn't do anything to edify them on why Destiny is so different.
Do you know what a Focus is? No? Don't worry...you're not alone. What about a Super? What about a Ghost?
Every single weapon and armor piece in Destiny has its own talent tree.
The currency in the game is called Glimmer, which drops from enemies and can be used to purchase gear from vendors in the main cities.
Vehicles can be upgraded and customized.
None of this has been revealed in any of the major gameplay videos that Bungie has released. They've done nothing to show players why this game can be properly differentiated from other standard FPS games.
Bungie has said repeatedly that this game is a 10 year project, so it seems they're intending to treat this game as Blizzard has treated WoW, with major expansions released every 18-24 months. The $500 million figure is likely the allotted budget for the game for the next 5+ years.

I hope its a failure, and it puts activision out of business.

nothing has really made me want to get it. just looks bland imo. i guess ill gamefly it if everyone on here likes it

ya'll clearly aren't watching the videos I'm watching.
is it a giant undertaking that could potentially flop? of course
does it have potential to be something we've never experienced before? you bet ya.
will some people still find reasons to criticize it? absolutely.
but to say it looks mehhh based on the very very little we know and the minimal information and videos that've been released is also a stretch.

I'm intrigued by the game as i've always been a fan of MMOs if done right and will be open minded until I see what's going on in the beta

still 5 months away from launch, but you think they'd be ramping up advertisement and demo'ing what they have by now.

Some game journalist that has played Destiny said it was very meh at this point.
Wish I could find the Reddit post about it.
The last game this ambitious that panned out positively was World of Warcraft.
That was 2004, and Blizzard was the best PC game developer at the time.
This game will have over twice the budget of GTAV when it's all said and done, that's fricking ridiculous.
Posted on 5/6/14 at 6:44 pm to UltimateHog
With that budget, im pretty damn sure this will be a disappointment.

You guys are such pessimists. I think the game will be great even though this isn't my favorite genre.
