Of course not. I asked her if she wanted to make the sun set. But if we did, we would have to kill someone.

You actually don't have to kill him to get to the hawk ring, contrary to popular belief. Come from behind him to his left and try to walk past him towards the chest, just hold forward. His standard animation has a split second where he leans right, every few seconds or so, just enough for you to slide past and get to the chest. Do the same, reversed, to get out past him again.

Now that I've had a bit of coffee: you don't have to kill Gwyndolin to turn Anor Londo dark. Even if they are still alive, if you attack the illusion of Gwynevere, it has the same effect.

Vin, now that I'm thinking about it, we should probably add a spoiler tag to the title. People can obviously ask questions and ask that that specific answer remain spoiler free, but not everyone is going to want that, so "spoilers" will be inevitable to come across if people read the thread, generally.

lol I'm not going to add that. My thinking is if someone comes into a thread that is specifically titled "replay discussion" and first timers then you'll likely get hit with spoilers.

normally i'd be on board with the suggestion though...especially having seen td012 burst into a thread and start posting incredibly detailed summaries of his complete playthroughs the day a game comes out

I’m going after Manus today. Posted in another thread but this foray back into Souls makes me want to play Elden Ring for a third time.

I’m playing FF7 remake and while I love those games there’s just something addicting about these Souls games

Stay calm, be patient, keep your health topped off, stay away from the rage tantrum (this is also a great time to heal), prioritize repelling the dark spells.

You’ve got this

The whole problem with this BS fight is there’s not enough room to do this. I get backed up against the barrier then I’m screwed. Got him to like 1/4 once out of 50 times.

I just got frickED. I was one hit away and the game screwed me

Come on, admit it: you were one hit away and got greedy

And yes, arena awareness is important in this fight, not only the edges but also the stone pillars. When he rages, you need to get distance, but after he’s done? Run up and close the gap again. For other attacks, you should be primarily dodging sideways or towards him. When he takes pauses and rotates, close the gap and try to recenter the arena. You don’t necessarily want to be on top of him, especially in the second phase, because that shotgun dark magic blast can nearly one hit you, but you should not be far away. Your sweet spot is 10-15 feet away. You want to be far enough that you can see his entire body to read the moveset, but close enough that you can easily dodge roll forward and immediately hit once.
