Searching around it looks like that's how it is supposed to be. I didn't realize they regenerate at bonfires. Still seems like a dumb mechanic.

I do want to get back to this game, but this mechanic made me quit pretty early. Still learning how combat works, and it takes me a couple of times to take down this huge knight. Finally beat him, save at a campfire that's down some steps really close, and guess who's back?

You fight the same enemies a lot but that doesn't bother me. they get so much easier.

I know there's a lot of dodging involved, but it never seemed super responsive. My guy would still be flailing away as I'm screaming for him to move and he gets clobbered.

The quickness is partially a result of how much armor you have on. I try and stay below 50% for speed.

K. Maybe I'll start over again It almost felt like if you hit the attack button but quickly tried to dodge, the dodge wouldn't "overwrite" the attack, like it was going through with the swing first before it allowed you to dodge. I'm probably doing it wrong, but I would try a couple of swings first (almost button mashing) and then dodging when I felt they were about to attack, but at times it wanted to take it's time.

Button mashing doesn't work.
You probably shouldn't try. It takes a bit more commitment than you probably want to give.

That took longer than I thought.

I can beat it in my own time, I'm sure. It's one of those "get over the hump" deals, I feel.

I only say that because these games are usually better in big chunks and hard to play and takes breaks.

Maybe. I'd just like to get a bigger sample size before I totally give up on it.

Go for it, hope you enjoy it because the games are awesome. It is quickly becoming my favorite franchise.

I love the Souls series, but I can't play anything else when I get started. And it's not a game I can play for a few minutes here and there.

That's probably why I haven't gotten back to it.

I spent a good 2 hours straight on City last night. Just defeated Mr. Freeze and now I'm cleaning up some side quests before continuing on with the story.

Dark Souls requires a whole different level of commitment I'm not prepared to provide at this time. I know my limitations.
