I don't understand some people's problems with indie games. That's where I've been getting the most bang for my buck, including last gen.

I can, however, understand the frustration with HD Remakes. Some titles have gameplay that still holds up today and that's where it's a good thing. The Last of Us and GTA V are obvious examples, especially considering they probably both should have been released this gen to begin with. Something like RE doesn't make much sense to me. I simply don't think the gameplay is good enough unless they make significant changes to how it plays and that seems to defeat the whole point of remaking it in the first place.

In the case of RE, I'd rather Capcom just say "Hey, we're rebooting Resident Evil. It's a totally new game built from the ground up for current gen but is a re-imagining of the story from the first game." - Similar to what was done with Tomb Raider and Devil May Cry.

(And I'm aware that Tomb Raider itself had a current gen "definitive edition" release. That, again, made sense considering the game was so recently made.)

Some of the best games are indie titles.

It is so awesome when you find a gem that isn't so hyped up.

Transistor and Child of Light come to mind.

I kinda disagree on the remake thing though. Although I have the urge to play TLOU remastered, I think the PS3 version is just too recent and holds up well by itself. Maybe those resources can go towards TLoU2 or UC4 instead of remaking a perfectly good game.

I think older games being given a face lift is great. I am not a fan of old games because the graphics usually turn me off. Seeing them in HD with updated graphics is awesome IMO and makes them a whole new game.

If you have seen the RE remake screenshots, it looks great.

I don't get it either. Colin Moriarty with IGN wrote a very good article about that actually [link=(I don't understand some people's problems with indie games. That's where I've been getting the most bang for my buck, including last gen. )]LINK[/link]

I think you have to take this in a case by case basis. These remakes take much smaller teams for one thing. Also, some games won't actually progress just because they throw more people at them, sometimes that only causes problem or they aren't at that stage yet. TLoU 2 is in the very early stages, if it's even being made, so they probably don't need any more people on in it now. UC4, it's hard to tell but my guess is that it's far out enough to not make a difference either way. The remastered version just served as a GOTY edition with all the DLC for $50. People all over the internet said it needed to be on PS4 and they did it. GTAV is in the same situation.

Resident Evil? It's capcom so who knows what the hell is going on

I just think it's not a safe assumption to think that those resources being put on a different project would get you that many more AAA releases, if any.
