Finding I like the revenge feature quite a bit raiding at low trophy level. Finding the people that attack me have a lot of loot. Plus their base is an easy hit and it doesn't cost gold to find them, they come to me. I just go through the list of those that attack me and hit revenge on each to see if i can even attack them or if they have a shield or are online. If im able to attack i go in and look at their loot/base setup. If i dont like the look ill end fight with no consequenses and go to the next one.
The trophies I gain from being attacked I lose with single goblin attacks to get back down to the trophy level I like. The goblins more times than not steal enough resources to pay for themselves and then some.
If nobody attacks me its as good as a shield and I'll sit back and let my resource gatherers work

Most people I try to revenge have a shield up, it sucks

I always use the revenge feature.
And yes it is much easier in the 1000-1200 range. I'm not sure why anyone would be above it.
