Can't we have more comic book single-player rpg's?

Particularly games where you get to create your own superhero.

Like the vastly underrated X-men Destiny.

Who wouldn't want to work hard for a shot at being an Avenger, Defender, or something?

What about MMOs?

Never was a fan of playing along side my favorite super hero/villain but rather carve out a story in a different universe.

Bring back City of Heroes/Villains.

Agree on this.

Batman killed super hero games for the most part. Prototype was meh. And people only want the gritty action games.

Except the Arkham games were awesome. Superhero games have always been crap with only a few exceptions.

Single player ones because they usually come for a movie. A ton of MMO super hero games like CoH, DCUO and Ifinite Crysis. The Deadpool game released in 2013 was great also but didn't come in response of a movie release.

Justice League Heroes killed my interest back in the day.

Infamous series is pretty solid and you can be either good or bad in all 3 games.

It's just. . .

All rpg's are rooted in D&D pencil and paper games.

The the Marvel Universe pencil/paper RPG was badass back in the 90's.

I just feel like there could be a singleplayer game in that universe that allows you to create your own character and power set.

I mean they have games that effectively use magic. Why not powers?

They usually get licensed crap treatment. There is a rumor sucker punch is doing a spider man game.

I don't know how well it's aged, but I loved the Freedom Force games developed by Irrational back in the day. It's a top-down, isometric, tactical RPG where you can create your own super heroes or customize the ones in the game. It has a golden age, slightly cheesy take on super heroes but I found it charming.

Haven't heard of Freedom Force before, but it looks awesome. The art style reminds me of Champions Online. Not a bad super hero MMO, just lacked depth and PvP which lost the community.

Freedom Force
Great game in a unique silver age setting.

I was hoping for a modern take. . .without the BIFF BAM

This is the first game I thought of but I couldn't remember the name. Freedom Force was such a great game.

There's a game where you write code to make and carry out your super abilities.

I forget what it is called though.

Footnote: Daybreak just posted today that Jack Emmert (former CEO of Cryptic, designer for CoH/V, producer of the Star Trek MMO, Champions, etc) just jumped ship to become CEO of Daybreak's Austin studio (ie: DCUO).
