I read somewhere that a few nerds figured that it was the third part of the Fallen Hero timeline coming directly after Adventures of Link. Essentially Part 3.

I get the feeling that it's 100 years after link dies in ocarina of time.

Not sure where it fits in the timelines but it has basically been figured out that the mechanical guardians or beast looking things are former Sheikah machines used to fight Ganon, 100 years before. Not sure how that fits with anything as the Sheikah are pretty mysterious still.
quote:

Hylians pass stories of a destined time long past where multiple races lived and worked together in harmony. The Sheikah Tribe's blue aura breathed through the land and this mutual prosperity continued until a cataclysmic disaster stuck. The Hero and the Princess attempted to seal the terror which became known as the Calamity Ganon. Divine beasts awoke from four directions and deployed a mechanical army which made the King and his people fearful. They fractured Ganon's power and sealed him, but the Sheikah were banished from the land ever since.

Yeah apparently some nerds translated Sheikah to Japanese to English based on text on the map included in the master edition game. That's next level nerd

it appears to be the same link from ocarina, but the one who loses to ganon. we know that he wakes up in something called "the resurrection chamber", that something happened 100 years ago, that the world is shaped by whatever happened 100 years ago.

Yeah, I'm reasonably confident this is the timeline we're on and that it is the final Zelda of the Timeline as well.

Well, that's the same as Twilight Princess, except that's in the Child Timeline. The final Zelda timeline where Link loses is known as the Era of Decline, and well things have clearly gone to shite for the inhabitants of Hyrule here, with all the Guardians running around.

so link and Zelda (hylia) were reincarnated like 4 times in between?

doesn't make sense. the most logical placement is that it is the first in that timeline.

skyward sword
ocarina of time
breath of the wild
then the nes, snes and link between worlds.

but twilight princess if i'm not mistaken is the first in that timeline, right? I don't know but that's how I've always had it in my head

child:
skyward
ocarina
majora*
twilight princess

adult:
skyward
ocarina
wind waker

defeated:
skyward
ocarina
breath of the wild

After seeing the other Zelda thread I spent 5 hours researching this timeline because I'll be honest, I was fricking clueless.

After research, I am convinced this is OoT sequel in the fallen hero timeline. It is literally the only place it fits!!!

It's all a moot point since they made it all up after the fact.

I don't overly think the about reincarnation process in Zelda. I just think since Hyrule is for all intents and purposes dead in this one, the state of the Master Sword, it's connection with the original, and an implication of rebirth that it signifies the end lead me to believe it is the final Zelda, at least in the Downfall timeline.

i get that the whole timeline thing was crafted later and they do their best to shoehorn it, and I don't even care about discontinuity, but it is a huge part of the timeline. in skyward sword you learn that ganon is the physical incarnation of the demon demise. it's the same ganon though. Zelda is the physical incarnation of hylia, but she reincarnates, and link reincarnates or at least it is implied that he does but he isn't a representation of any god or demon.

So it would make sense it comes right after ocarina and before The resurrection of ganon

I think so. I would assume his 100 year "sleep" would be directly after he is defeated by Ganon at the end of OoT.

I think this is between OOT and LttP but this isn't the same Link from OOT. We've already seen that 100 years ago in this game Calamity Ganon and the Sheikah tech were around; both of which weren't around during OOT.

What we know of this game's story matches up almost exactly with the Imprisoning War however. At what would be the end of OOT, Zelda and the Sages somehow manage to seal Ganon into the sacred realm. Hundreds of years pass, Hyrule is rebuilt and a new castle is built (which is why we see Twilight Princess's Castle Town) north of OOT Castle Town.

Either Hyrule Historia or the LttP manual state that people eventually learned of the triforce and, looking to gain it's power, somehow made their way to what had become the Dark World because of Ganon's influence only to be corrupted by his power. Eventually Ganon's power breaks the seal and he (as Calamity Ganon if this theory is correct) and his minions destroy Hyrule in the events that would be 100 years ago in this game.

HH also mentions that the Knights of Hyrule played a vital role in the eventual sealing of Ganon in the IW. And sure enough this Link appears to be part of a larger group of warriors as evidenced by this champion's garment that he's wearing rather than the traditional green.

Yeah I know I'm a nerd, so what?

What exactly implies that it's the hero defeated timeline? It's absolutely the OoT timeline but why couldn't it be a sequel to the events of OoT as they played out? Possibly the distant future of TP?
