This thread has inspired me to buy the game and get my 3 month old to start playing it. She needs to grow up now.

I let my 10 year old nephew play GT4 occasionally. I just don't let him do any missions.

I let my 5 year old fly the planes, drive the boats, etc. and such in GTA V but that's it. There's no other game on the market that has as detailed a sandbox environment where kids can play with that many different types of vehicles. Keep in mind I was sitting next to him the entire time he played it.

I really wish these games had a kid friendly mode where the seedier aspects of the game were turned off.

Having said that, I wouldn't let my children play a game like this until they were probably in their late teens and even then I'd want to keep an eye on them when they played. Outside of the sex/nudity, there's a ton of violence in the game, including a fairly disturbing torture scene & assassination. I don't think a kid has the maturity or understanding to properly frame something like that. The developers are trying to make a statement about torture but a kid (or even an immature adult) could misinterpret it. I'd want to be present to talk through those sorts of things with them.

Yep. You gotta be careful for sure. I don't see any harm in him driving around and what not.

My 8 year old doesn't even know GTA exists. He still plays games like minecraft, Lego batman, Disney infinity, and lately, his most violent game is WWE.

If I had GTA 5, I'm sure he will be intrigued, but mostly by driving the cars more than actual missions.

13 should be the absolute youngest age to play GTAV. 12 is pushing it.

This game is the very definition of adult material.
