Bought the complete collection for the winter Steam sale. ($7.99)

Played the original a ton back in the day, but this will be my first go at the expansions.

IGN: woad_raider, if anyone wants to play.

Have they fixed compatibility issues? I tried to reinstall a copy back when I had windows 7 and it just wouldn't run.

Welp. I was so excited i bought this and didn't realize that it wasn't compatible with OS X.

Guess I'll have to take my work computer home more often.

If they ever made an OSX compatible version I'd be so stoked.

Hopped on with a buddy last night and played a solid 4-5 games.

The new Asian and Native American civs are great.

AOE 2 is so much better than 3. Especially with the new expansion released several months ago.

I like the Civs much better from 2, but the mechanics from 3 were so badly needed. Making one soldier at a time was so painful

And where would I find one? I see a $236 one on Amazon and a bunch of sketchy links to download sites I don't trust.

AOE 2 is a classic and will always be #1 to me.

However, AOE 3 is no slouch and I don't know that I can say AOE 2 is leaps and bounds better than AOE 3.

They are similar but also very different. They did a good job of creating another RTS with the same feel but different enough to be it's own game.

You are thinking of AOE 1. AOE 2 lets you queue up to 15 units per building.

I think he meant 1 unit at a time. Or at least that's how I read it.

In any case, the ability to group units that count as a single population into a group of 5 when you are creating them is awesome. It's definitely one of the better nuances of AOE 3 over AOE 2.

It's really a shame that they shut Ensemble Studios down.
