Finally started playing AC2 this week. Anyone else have a hard time getting into this game after playing FPS for so long?

I enjoy beating people up in Florence, but after an hour or so of playing, I am finding it difficult to play this game instead of other games in the collection.

Does the story line pick up, or does it get more enjoyable after the first few missions?

Best in the series, by far. Probably need to play through it again. If you are in an FPS mindset, that's probably handicapping you.

ETA: nvm, reread your post. Story is great, but I'm not sure where exactly it "picks up".

If you are still non assassin Ezio, then yeah the game is a bit boring, once you put on the Assassins cloak and meet up with Uncle Mario, the game gets moving.

Meeting up with Leonardo was exciting for me. AC's version of Q.

This. If you still don't like it then it may just not be for you. It's definitely not a fps.

The story is really good as you get into it. Doing the puzzles helps you understand somewhat.

I haven't started AC2 yet but I find just the opposite. After playing so much FPS I am really enjoying non-FPS type single player games lately. I've played/am playing Skyrim, Portal, Hitman, State of Decay, Half Life 2, etc, etc.

The only time I even bother put in COD or BF3 is if there's at least 3 other people on playing. And even then I ignore game invites sometimes

I am currently working on it. At first I was like even the first one is better, but then it starts to get better. You can upgrade your armour and help build the city which is really cool.

The only complaint I have is that the controls can be glitchy at times otherwise great game. Probably in my top 5.

My recommendation is power through the training missions as fast as possible. They're all about how to use the world and the basics of navigation. Don't explore, and don't do side quests. It should only take you an hour or so. Once you are outside Florence then everything starts moving.

It's a really good game, you should give it some more time. If you end up liking it play AC: Brotherhood, its basically the same game with a better story and more side missions.

Thanks for the updates on this. I will give it some more time tonight.

Getting used to the controls is priority number one. I realized today that if you hold A while jumping/climbing, he pretty much navigates walls on easy mode.

Do the controls become more fluid and second nature as I play through this? I still find myself looking up at the icon indicators to figure out how to do shite.

Yea pretty soon you will be running from guards, climbing walls and doing arial attacks like a boss.
The game pretty much does the work for you.

Practice your timing when fighting guards. Dont just hack away relentlessly at them. Wait for them to strike, counter and combo
