I feel like up until the early 00's, the IGN crew did have some writing and journalistic integrity.

Yeah. I used to love IGN.

It reminded me a lot of watching TechTV turn into G4TV.

Bingo. When geek became chic it all went to shite.

Patreon isn't that different than a premium membership like most websites do. They are optional and you get exclusive content.

Call of duty games are still getting 9 and classic remakes that ign has given 10s in the past, especially nintendo games, are given worse scores when ported despite virtually anything being changed.

Their criteria changes game to game, but it's understandable. The site is for the ADHD masses that need a number assigned to everything and keep shitty developers in business.

I much prefer systems lik steam reviews. A simple yes or no did you like it. Rock paper shotgun too. You have to actually read the review since there is no number at the bottom, heaven forbid.

I generally like the IGN guys except they kinda come off as massive douches sometimes. Like I feel like it'd be kinda a pain to be around them.

Colin Moriarty is a bit anti-social and could be one of those awful people to be around if you don't get along. Also, he needs to learn to shut the frick up about politics. But I also think he has some of the best insight into the mindset of these video game companies and he came across as a real expert on what he's talking about.

Greg Miller has a lot of energy and passion but for every two or three things he says that I agree with, he'll say something arrogantly that I disagree with.

IGN will miss them. But I think recently, Brian Altano had surpassed them in popularity. Dude is funny and doesn't give a frick.

Except most of the "exclusives" are just sneak peaks at upcoming content and most youtube content isn't good enough to warrant a premium membership.

Most website stuff isn't that special either, it's for their more loyal fans. Point is it isn't that different.

I can't remember who it was but whoever the guy was with doing MLB 14: The Show while Puig and the Giant's pitcher were playing absolutely SUUUUCKED. I think that was Greg Miller. Like just kept hounding the pitcher every time he would frick up saying "Come on man. You play this game and you're getting schooled. What's the deal?" and you could tell the Giant's pitcher wanted to punch him in the face after about 20 minutes of it.

Ign is the rolling Stone magazine of gaming. It used to have integrity and be the best around for its audience. Now it's a bloated sold out shell of its former self.
