11.5 years later I finally finished Skyrim main quest

Maybe it was the impending release of Starfield but I finally put my head down and powered through main quest and Civil War. I think I'd done about everything else in the game. This time I took it all the way.
It was underwhelming.

I don't recall anything from the one time I finished the main quest, but I remember being "........ok, back to exploring caves".

Wait, there is a main quest?

Same for me. I stood in the spot for awhile and was waiting for another cue, but after a few minutes I just walked away and went about life.

I never beat Skyrim but always assumed that a large portion of the side quest were likely better stories vs the main quest.

I might as well fire it up and play through all the quests again since ES VI is still fricking years away. This is unforgivable, but they're still getting my money as soon as pre-orders start.

Leisuresuitgaming2 rant of Skyrim is hilarious

I literally did everything else before the end quest. I had two heavily modified chaos enchanted dragon bone swords and killed Alduin in like 3 hits.

I enjoy playing it but I've never finished it. I think I'm only like mid 20s or so. I hated the main quest line so much I only liked the side quests and guilds or whatever.
I might get into a state of altered consciousness this afternoon and dust it off.

I beat this once doinf minimal effort. The game is perfectly fine and deserves the praise I just cannot stand 1st person views. However what I really came to post is there is some guy on YouTube who has killed every NPC in Skyrim for like 1000 days straight or something it’s hilarious go seek it out

I’ve never understood people who avoid the main quest. In most modern RPGs, there are significant powers gated behind main quest progression. I certainly don’t rush through the main quest, but I don’t actively avoid it like some people apparently do

Bethesda was really good at allowing you to just get lost in their worlds at not have to worry about gated content so I get it for those games. I don’t get how you can pull that off in the ones where you’re just a pleb in the opening area until you get through a quarter of the story.

You do know you can switch to 3rd person right? Please don't tell us you beat the game not knowing that

It’s been over a decade since I last played Skyrim, but aren’t most/all of the shouts main quest progression locked? I can’t remember if there was anything else.

Think it was only a few like fus ro dah and the dash. But who needs a shout when you have a bow?
IIRC you could just find the majority of them in dungeons/caves

You got all the powers you needed in the first three of like 18 main quests. Once I got the third word of unrelenting force I never felt the need to go back.

My first playthrough I thought the civil war stuff was the main quest. When a buddy of mine was talking about fighting the dragon I had no idea what he was talking about.
I had started so many side quests I had completely missed the first mission that leads up the mountain to the Greybeards at probably 100+ hours in.
