Yes, I know they're different.
I had some beignet's today at Cafe Dumonde and I wasn't moved by them. I was wishing I had a Krispy Kreme glazed instead.

Beignet. Krispy Kremes are mush and insubstantial. I've had better doughnuts.

I am actually pretty shocked at how many responses are not for KK.
I will go ahead and say it, there are not many better things that are covered in Icing than when a fresh KK comes off the belt.

They are both mass produced finger food deserts but OP did set up an apples/oranges discussion as he pointed out. But he also inadvertently started another apples/oranges discussion re donuts themselves. KK glazed donuts are as different from the heavier donuts at the smaller shops as they are from beignets. I prefer the heavier donuts for everything except a glazed. A KK glazed (especially hot) is near perfection if you can handle the level of sweetness it brings to the table.
